Decal Installation Instructions
DECAL INSTALLATION & REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS
***  Please Read Carefully  ***

ALL DECALS ARE MADE UP OF THREE LAYERS:

1. Top Layer - Application Tape
This top clear or white layer is what is used to transfer the decal to the surface.
This top layer is removed at a 180° degree angle during the last step of installation.

2. Middle Layer - The Decal
This is the decal that we designed, cut and you purchased.  This is what is left after the backing
paper and application tape are removed during installation.

3. Bottom Layer - Backing or Wax Paper
This is the paper that the decal sits on.  This paper along with the decal are what come from
the manufacturer of the vinyl.  This paper is removed after the decal is taped in place
during installation. For smaller decals you may not have to use tape to hold the decal in place.
ITEMS YOU MAY NEED FOR INSTALLATION
Low or no lint towels to clean and dry the surface where the decal is applied.

Glass or surface cleaner that is safe for painted surfaces depending on
where you are installing the decal.  When using glass cleaner make sure to dry the surface
and allow any traces a minute or two to evaporate as ammonia will effect the adhesion of your decal.
Rubbing alcohol will also work but will leave a slight haze and must be thoroughly dry and wiped clean.

DO NOT USE ANY CLEANERS that contain any kind of citrus or other types of oils.
These cleaners will leave a oily residue that will cause your decal to fail and peel up!

Flat smooth squeegee, credit card or similar type object.
We will automatically include a free squeegee with orders over $25.00

Masking Tape

Scissors X-ACTO Knife or similar

INSTALLATION - TEMPERATURES
Minimum air temperature should be about 55° F degrees.  Minimum surface temperature should be about
the same or slightly warmer.  Never install in direct sunlight or on a hot surface that has been baking
in the sun. If you can not hold your hand on the surface, then it is too hot. For colder months you may
use a hair dryer to warm the surface and decal to aid in adhesion. After warming the surface, install as
instructed but warm the whole decal before removing the application tape. Heating the application
tape as you remove it will keep it from pulling the decal off the surface.
Once the application tape is removed, warm the decal while gently rubbing the decal with your finger.
This helps activate the decals adhesive.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Starting with a clean dry surface that is clear of any dirt, dust, oil or other road debris
is the most important step for a perfect install.  The surface should be hard, flat or slightly curved
and non-porous. Do not try to install on brick, stone or wallpaper.
Clean and dry the surface where decal will be applied with the appropriate cleaner.
FOR SMALL DECALS:
Smooth decal out with your hand to make sure the transfer tape fully sticks to the decal.
Carefully remove the backing paper.  If any small parts stay stuck to the backing paper, use an
X-Acto knife to lift up and free that part.  Tack the smallest side down and smooth with your finger
or squeegee along the edge of the application tape while holding the decal above the surface.
Working from the tacked edge begin to lay down the decal moving from the
top down and back applying pressure as you move across the decal. Once you are finished,
go over the entire decal several more times to ensure that all parts of the decal have adhered to the surface .

Wait a minute or so then gently peel away the transfer tape at a 180°degree angle from the decal.
If any small letters or parts lift up with the transfer tape, lay the transfer tape back down and apply pressure
with your thumb in a circular motion around the area then try to peel tape again.

FOR LARGE DECALS:
Smooth decal out with your squeegee from the center to the outer edges to make sure the transfer tape fully sticks to the decal.

Tape decal in place using masking tape then use a measuring tape to check that decal is straight and centered on surface.

Run masking tape along the center of the decal as shown once it is in position. Tape should go 3” below and above decal.

Remove tape from top left corner, lift up and lay over left side of decal over center masking tape to peel away wax paper backing from the decal. Peel backing away to the masking tape edge. While holding the transfer tape and decal to the right, cut the paper backing with scissors along the tape edge from the bottom up.

You may tape the transfer tape down with a small piece of tape or have a helper hold it while you cut the backing paper. If you use tape, do not place it on any part of the decal as it will pull it off the tape and ruin your decal. Tape the corner down where there is no decal.

Remove tape if used, bring decal to the left side holding the transfer tape 2-3”above surface, squeegee the decal into place from the edge of the cut backing paper to the outer left edge of the decal right to left about 2-3” at a time from the top down being careful not to go over the backing paper edge. Once all of the left side is applied go over it again being careful not to go over the cut edge of the backing paper.

Then remove all remaining masking tape, fold over decal to the left and slowly remove the backing paper from the center half way and start to squeegee from left to right 2-3” at a time (while holding backing and decal at the same time) from the top down until done. Go over entire decal 1-2 times again.

Wait a few minutes and then gently peel away the transfer tape at a 180° degree angle from the decal. If any small letters or parts lift up with the transfer tape, lay the transfer tape back down and apply pressure with your thumb in a circular motion around the area, squeegee it, then try to peel tape again.

Finished decal after installation.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR DECAL

After installing your decal, do not wash your vehicle for one week.  This allows enough time
for the adhesive to set and ensure proper adhesion. Never clean with an abrasive cleaner.
Try not to wax up to the edges as this will cause the decal to lift off. I you installed your decal
on a window, do not use an ice scraper across your decal as this will probably remove it.

REMOVING YOUR DECAL
On glass you may use a straight edge razor blade to lift up the edges and peel the decal off.
The temperature should be above 75°F degrees.  You can also use a hair dryer or heat gun to
warm the decal to allow you to remove it. DO NOT KEEP THE HEAT IN ONE SPOT!
Use a circular motion until the surface warms up.  The glass may shatter if heated for too long in one area.
On painted surfaces heat may also used to warm the surface.  Taking care to not keep the heat
in any one spot as this will soften the paint possibly causing it to bubble and come off with the decal!
It does not take much heat for the vinyl to warm up and be removed so be careful. If you have any reservations
regarding installing or removing decals, please consult your local
sign or graphics company. The small fee you pay may save you thousands of dollars in repairs.
