A. A. Best Company
Frequently Asked Questions
|
|
|
How long have you been in the top business? |
| |
We have been in the
automotive upholstery business since 1968. That
means we are drawing on 40 years of experience
to better serve our customers. |
|
Where are you located? |
| |
We have manufacturers
in CA, GA, AL and NC, however, our sales offices
and installation facilities are located in
Sunbury, Pennsylvania. |
|
Why are your prices so low? |
| |
We have grown to
become one of the largest distributors of
automotive upholstery items in the country. We
use our volume of sales to leverage a better
price from the manufacturer and pass the savings
along to our customers. |
|
How do I contact you? |
| |
Our sales offices can
be reached at 570-286-8696, Mon thru Fri, 9 am
to 5 pm EST. You can also
email us
with any questions. |

|
|
| How long
will it take to receive my order? |
| |
In stock items will
usually ship the same day or the next business
day (depending on the time the order is placed).
Many of our items are made as they are ordered
though. Please see the following list for
exceptions:
-
Convertible tops tend to develop
permanent creases if left boxed for too
long. For this reason, ours our made
as they are ordered. Manufacturing
takes between 5 to 10 business days.
-
Headliners are made as they are
ordered to allow us to cover them in what
ever color you would like.
Manufacturing for headliners takes between 5
to 10 business days.
- Carpets
are made as they are ordered to allow us to
make them for you in what ever color you
need. Carpet molding takes between 2
to 5 business days.

|
Can I get an accelerated shipping? |
| |
We are always happy to
ship using an accelerated shipping method such
as Overnight, 2nd Day Air or 3 Day Select.
Please keep in mind that since many of our
products are manufactured as they are ordered,
accelerated shipping will only speed up transit
time, not manufacturing times. For more
information please contact customer service. |
|
How will my order be shipped? |
| |
Orders are generall
shipped using UPS. When available, we also
offer USPS as an alternative. For large items
shipping internationally, we may be able to ship
by BAX Global for you to help keep costs down.
If you would like one of these shipping
methods, but do not see it available when
placing your order, please contact customer
service.
If you would like your order shipped by any
means other than those listed above, please
contact customer service. We will try to
accomodate you if possible, but for any carriers
not listed above, you will need to make the
arrangements with that carrier. Be sure to
contact customer service before placing your
order if you would like to take advantage of
this option. Once you have placed your order,
we will handle shipping as noted on the order. |

Can I reuse my window? |
| |
That depends on your
car. As a general rule most domestic cars use a
two piece top (where the window is a separate
assembly from the top) and most foreign models
use a one piece top (where the window is
directly attached to the top). As with most
rules, there are of course exceptions.
For one piece tops, the window is part of the
top, so it will come with the new top.
For the two piece tops, you may be able to reuse
your window, but it would not be recommended.
The material that holds the window to the car
deteriorates at the same rate as the top. If
the window has not been replaced in the last
year, you may install the top only to find that
you must remove it soon to replace a window.
For more information, please see our article
How is my window attached
to my car.
The exception to both of the above scenarios are
cars such as the VW Cabriolet, Mazda RX-7,
Jaguars and others. These cars have a reuseable
glass window which gets removed before removing
the top, and then reinstalled after the top has
been installed. For many of these cars where
the glass is no longer available, we have have
alternatives that have a vinyl window already
attached to the top.
If you have any more questions, feel free to
contact one of our customer service
representatives. |
|
If my window is damaged, do I have to replace my
top? |
| |
If your top and window
are two seperate pieces, the window can be
replaced separately. Many times this involves
at least partially removing the top, which
depending on the condition of the top, may cause
it to develope cracks and tears, forcing you to
replace it as well. As a general rule, if we
offer the top and window separately, you can
replace one without the other. If you still
have any questions, feel free to contact one of
our customer service representatives. |
|
What comes with my new top? |
| |
Our convertible tops
come to you as they would from a dealership.
They are replacement tops, so they do not
include any frame work or hardware (although we
do have many SUV tops that are available with a
new frame). Those items get reused. Each top
listing will explain what is coming with it.
Many windows are separate assemblies from the
convertible tops, and will not come with the
top, unless noted. We also sell kits for most
cars, which will include the items commonly
needed to do a full top replacement - things
such as the top, the window assembly, the pads
and the cables (where applicable). Headliners
and weatherstripping are commonly reusable
items, and do not come with the new top. If you
do need to replace your convertible headliner,
we do have them available for most models. |
|
Who makes your convertible tops? |
| |
We draw our tops from
many different manufacturers, to better provide
quality tops to our customers. Our tops are
manufactured by the best companies in the
industry. We work with Robbins Auto Top
Company, Electron Top Company, EZ On Auto Tops,
Acme Headlining Company, Kee Auto Tops, Bestop
and Pavement Ends. |

Can I install my own top? |
| |
This is a really tough
question to answer without knowing your skills.
We would recommend that you have it
professionally installed. While some of our
customers do install their tops themselves,
everyone has a different experience. To install
a convertible top you need five things -
mechanical skills above average, an average
toolbox, time, patience and you must remove the
old top yourself. Missing any one of those
things will prevent you from being able to
properly install your new top. We would also
recommend that you purchase an OEM factory shop
manual. That will provide you with complete
instructions from your cars manufacturer on the
installation of your top, as well as much other
helpful do-it-yourself repair information. |
|
Do you provide installation? |
| |
Yes! We will gladly
provide installation services for all the
products that we sell. Installation is only
available at our Sunbury, Pennsylvania location.
If you are interested in having us install your
product, please contact customer service for
more information.
If you are out of the area and wish to have your
product professionally installed, you can find a
list of shops that have been recommended by
other customers on our
Installers List.
More installers can also be located through the
yellow pages under the heading "Automobile seat
covers, tops and upholstery". Your local car
dealers are also a good source of referrals, as
most dealers do not install upholstery, but send
them out. |
|
What tools will I need to install a top? |
| |
Most average toolboxes
will contain all the tools needed for a top
installation. The only tools that you may not
currently have would be a pneumatic or air
staple gun and spray contact cement. |
