Scissors are the professional groomer’s most prized possession. An extension of the hand; scissors are an artist’s tool used to sculpt and shape the dog’s coat, making it a better representation of its breed. For the pet owner, scissors can be used to keep your dog shaped up between professional visits, keeping the eyes, feet and tushie neat and clean. Regardless of the quality or the application, you need to hold your scissors properly as shown in the photo. Place your thumb and third (ring) finger into the appropriate scissor rings. The tang (if applicable) should rest on your pinky finger. The shank of the scissor rests on your first and middle fingers. As you open and close the scissor, only your thumb should move. It is not a squeezing motion. We hope this information helps you get the most from your new grooming scissors.
