|  | | First you cut your cable off clean leaving about ¾” of the copper wire longer than the black PVC coating 18 Ga. copper wire in the middle will be longer than the rest. You can do this with a sharp utility knife by laying the wire down on a flat surface and roll the coax wire in a complete circle until you’ve cut completely around the coax wire, you should be able to feel the copper wire stop your cutting then you should be able to pull the ¾” piece off with your hand or a pair of pliers. | | | |
| | Next carefully using the sharp razor knife, lay the wire back down on a flat surface and softly cut a 1/2" slice into the black PVC coating toward the 18 ga. copper wire, very carefully trying not to cut into the aluminum braid or foil underneath the black PVC coating, now you should be able to peel the coating back away from aluminum braid and foil underneath the black PVC coating and trim away with a knife or scissors. Important do not allow any part of the aluminum braid or the foil to make contact with the copper wire, this would cause signal loss sometimes days or weeks later. | |  | | | |
|  | | Next you should be able to thread the twist on F-connector over the 18ga. copper wire and on to the aluminum braid then twist firmly until the connector pushes the black PVC back and seats down on the white PVC in the center as you look down the end of the connector. You should also be able to see that the 18ga. copper wire is not in contact with any aluminum braid, foil, or the connector. | | | |
