All About Us
Before telling you about All American Doll Clothes, I want to introduce you to the members of my family: My husband, Leigh, teaches music and directs the high school band in our town. He also builds garden railway structures both to sell and for his own garden railroad. Our oldest, Michael, is currently studying film directing at the University of Southern California graduate school and is married to Kristie, who is a flight attendant. Our son Mark lives in Oregon, where he works for NIKE. Our daughter Sarah is manager of a Blockbuster store in Ohio. Our youngest, Becky, recently graduated from the University of Arizona with a major in communications. Each of us are strong Christians who practice our faith in our daily lives.
In 2001, after home schooling four children for 22 years, I was suddenly left with an empty nest. To be honest, I did fill that nest with five parrots. Yes, you read that correctly. Parrots (some of whom imitate sounds, talk, and sing) – a Budgie, Timneh African Grey, Senegal, Yellow-naped Amazon, and a Rosie Cockatoo. However, caring for and training my new feathered friends does not take up much time.
Before my children were born, I worked a variety of jobs: mail room clerk, secretary, bookkeeper, waitress, sales person, and retail store manager. Over the past 29 years I’ve used my ”spare” time to direct a non-profit ministry, author books, speak and teach across the country, decorate cakes, read good books, and sew.
I have always loved to sew -- for myself, my children, my husband, and dolls!! I began All American Doll Clothes as an outlet for my creative abilities and to provide affordable, high quality doll clothes made to fit the 18” American Girl, the Springfield Collection dolls, and other dolls of similar build.
To meet the ever-increasing requests for doll clothes, within two years we began to buy wholesale from top quality manufacturers. Today, I still find time to sew a few outfits every month, but most of my time is spent responding to emails, and packing orders -- which average over 60 per day during the Christmas season.
Garments I have personally made carry the label “Made with Love by P.J. Koerbel” and are shown in item descriptions as “PJK Made” and ensure the item was made in the USA by me.
