AllOBD On Board Diagnostic Tools

There three newsworthy items this month involving better and more affordable tools for reflashing as well as supporting enhanced parameter diagnostics. 

1. We've recently picked up a new line of cables from Tactrix, Inc which support reflashing later model Subaru's and Mitsubishi's with some very robust, free and open source software called Ecuflash.  The cables are listed in our sections for "Tactrix OpenPort Cables" and the software is supported over at www.OpenECU.org
2. Drew Technologies has developed a diagnostic and data logging library to easily retrieve generic and enhanced PIDS, DPIDS, and DMRs. This JVCI library is the foundation for 3rd party applications to develop diagnostic interface software capable of providing enhanced information far beyond the generic OBD parameters. This library will be announced at the SEMA show in October with the first development project aimed at folding these enhanced parameters into PCMSCAN.

3. Also from Drew Technologies:  The Mongoose line of J2534 compliant pass-thru hardware cables has expanded to include two new cables for support Ford Motor Products vehicles, one cable aimed at the diagnostics only market and a second with specific pin voltage applied to support OEM reflashing of Fords and other autos using the J1850PWM and CAN (ISO15765) protocols.  This brings the Mongoose line to the point where reflashing is supported for GM TIS & TIS2WEB, Ford WebFLASH, and many more J2534 compliant vehicles that can all be OEM flashed using the appropriate Mongoose cables.
