| | | | I try to incorporate philosophy into my work. I am self taught - 7th grade was my last art class, and Sister Marie Daniel drilled into me that art was a way to communicate thought, as well as imagination.
As a Traveling Man, a builder,(steel structures, houses, imaginative furniture, and later working as a sculptor in clay, wood, glass and metal), oil and acrylic paints became my favorite. I have learned through experimentation and sometimes pure luck. I am a Jack of all trades and Master of none, just another fool on a quest for more light...traveling East.
| | | Journey of a master Mason and the three tracing boards are my attempt of breathing new life into 100 year old etchings. I have incorporated Masonic knowledge, taken some ideas from the past, and basically used slides from the 1800's, as well as etchings, my own creativity and a loose style of painting to make Lodge size 20" x 30" paintings. These have been converted to prints on Fuji photo paper. I hope these can be used to teach 'From the Carpet' a new generation of Brothers.
Growing up, my back yard was an opening to the Palestine Shrine. Acres of open land and woods leading to the bay. The church, opposite the Shrines black gates, is St. Clement's Catholic church, named for the pope who opposed Freemasonry. I played ball,
fought, went sledding and learned. It was the place of my youth. No father - I became a man in the Shrine. Dad had his funeral at St.Clement's, with walls adorned with paintings of a modern court and OD Green uniformed soldiers crucifying Christ, when I was 11. I am a Widow's Son.
