Sterling Silver
"All sterling silver tarnishes as it oxidizes from oxygen and moisture in the air, which turns the silver various shades of gray, brown, and even black. This is just a light surface coating of oxidation that can be removed by rubbing with a polishing cloth (a jeweler's rouge cloth works best). Keep sterling wrapped in scratch-free preventing cloth or tissue. Jewelry boxes with anti-tarnish felt are good, but you can also store sterling in the original box if your jewelry box is too full. Just make sure to mark what's inside the box to make it easy to find." - Robert Lee Morris
Tri-tone Jewelry
"Now that I've introduced tri-tone jewelry (copper, brass, and silver), you'll need an easy way to bring all three metal colors back to their original finish. Dip them into instant tarnish-remover liquid, available in many forms and names. It removes all tarnish immediately, but you must wash the jewelry in soap and water and dry thoroughly. The remover liquid is a harsh chemical, so please be careful and keep it tightly capped. Rubbing tri-color jewelry with a polishing cloth also works well." - Robert Lee Morris
