| In April of 2006, John Stevens from Sterling, Massachusetts and Erkan Demir from Istanbul, Turkey formed a limited partnership and created Artemis Home Décor, a shop in Maynard, Massachusetts. The shop was modeled after Erkan’s shop in Istanbul located within sight of the Blue Mosque and Hia Sophia. Most of the items are from Turkey with the exception of some Indian cloths and the elegant hand embroidered wall hangings and table coverings from Uzbekistan. The pillow coverings and boots are made in Mr. Demir’s shop.
John and Erkan became friends when John first visited Istanbul in 2001. John bought a beautiful silk rug from Erkan whose business at the time was mostly selling handmade carpets. Over the next five years the two kept in touch with each other and their lives changed such that it became possible for them to become partners. In the future Erkan is hoping to immigrate to the US with his wife and two young children.
In May 2008, Artemis Home Decor decided to move away from the traditional brick and mortar store and open the doors to the world wide arena of customers by opening up a new e-bay store. In the coming months, more and more items will be available for purchase. Items will include: tunics, blouses, sweaters, skirts, dresses, vests, leather coats, embroidered coats, scarves, pasminas, gloves, belts, shoes, boots, bed spreads, pillow covers, Turkish towels, bath sets, Turkish bath soap and bowls, Indian wall hangings, Kilm handbags and jewelry.
The owners of Artemis Home Decor decided to work with a established e-bay store seller to sell their merchandise.
