Welcome to Avant Garde Books and Magazines! We feature unusual and hard to find vintage books and magazines. No Time or National Geographic magazines here (well, not unless they're very special ones). Our main book specialty is Wizard of Oz-related and other children's books. For magazines, we offer a selection of eclectic titles. And whatever else looks rare and interesting that we turn up while combing estate sales, garage sales, and online auctions.
There's nothing that beats browsing through the shelves in a cozy little brick-and-mortar bookshop. We want our shop to be as close to this experience for you as possible, while still offering the convenience and global reach of an Ebay virtual store. That's why we offer the following amenities you won't necessarily see in other online shops, including:
- Photos of ALL our items, so you can see what you're buying (email for extra photos)
- Answers to your questions within 24 hours (unless we're on vacation, and possibly even then!)
- Money back guarantee on your purchase if you contact us for a refund within 7 days of receiving your item, and return it within 14 days.
- Customer loyalty program, with discounts on multiple purchases (see below).
Return Policy Details:
We want you to be completely happy with your purchase. I try to list all flaws of note when describing an item, but perhaps something slips my eye, or is otherwise not up to snuff. You can return the item for a full refund of your purchase price. (Shipping costs not refunded, since these are a direct out-of-pocket expense). Please handle and ship your item with care so it's returned in its original condition.
Loyalty Discount Details:
It's good for us if you purchase more than one item from our store, so we want it to be good for you too! Purchase one item at regular price, and get a 7% discount on any and all additional items of lesser or equal value! Purchase your items and wait for an invoice from me to pay. And you save on shipping for multiple items as well ($1.50 each additional book or magazine) Auction and sale items excluded from 7% discount.
Shipping information:
We ship books and magazines by Media Mail, which is cheapest and still quite reliable. It does take one to two weeks for delivery, depending on where you live, though. We can ship Priority Mail if you prefer--email your zip code for a quote. We wrap securely, putting vintage books in boxes rather than padded envelopes, and use cardboard backing with magazines. For vintage magazines that will fit, we use archival acid-free sleeves as well. $1.50 for each additional item.
