Heat sublimation is a process that is primarily used with art flags...where
an artist has actually drawn a picture that is going to be dyed into a flag. The
process dyes the fabric all the way through and is so finely detailed that it
catches every brush stroke flawlessly! This process provides a level of depth
and accuracy of color that is not possible with silk screening. In this process,
the flag is one complete piece of fabric...usually nylon or polyester.
Silk screening, on the other hand, is a process that prints a picture on top
of the fabric...the fabric is not dyed all the way through. This process
provides less depth of color and color accuracy and is not as detailed as heat
sublimation. In this process, the flag is one complete piece of fabric...usually
nylon or polyester.
Appliquéd flags are made in a completely different fashion. Appliquéd flags
are created by piecing together various shapes and colors of fabric to make a
picture. Each piece of fabric is sewn to the next with a tight zig zag stitch on
a sewing machine. Putting an appliqué flag together is much like putting a
puzzle together!
In *most* cases, the words on appliqué flags will be visible
from both sides of the flag and the words on heat sublimated flags and silk
screened flags will not be visible from both sides. This, however,
is not a hard fast rule and the best way to find out for sure is to email us
about the flag you're interested in!
Each of our listing pages shows the measurement of the item in question in
the top left hand side of the listing. This is the standard placement of
measurement information in all of our listings.
Yes, our flags can be washed and ironed. Please make sure to wash in cold
water on a delicate setting and line dry. Use the lowest iron setting possible
that will remove the wrinkles.

How can I prevent my
flag from fading in the sun?
Nothing will keep your flag from fading eventually, but there are steps you
can take to slow the fading process. A simple solution to help slow the fading
process is to spray it with Scotch Guard or a very light coating of Armor All
before each display outside. Both products have UV protectors that will also
help to slow the fading process on your flag. Another helpful solution is to
wash your flags after they've been outdoors. Washing your flag will help to
remove the pollution and dirt that accumulates when its outside leaving your
flag looking fresh for its next display.

Are
these flags made for outdoor use?
Yes, all of our flags are made for outdoor use. To keep your flag looking
nicer for a longer period of time, make sure that it is not hitting the side of
your home, trees or any other objects while flying outdoors.

What is the
difference between a windsock and a spinner?
Windsocks and spinners are similar in that they are both items that hang.
Windsocks typically just blow in the wind. Often times they have longer
streamers that hang down from the "sock" part of the windsock.
Spinners, on the other hand, are designed to spin in the wind. Most often a
spinner will have a spiral hanging down that spins around as the wind blows it.
Some spinners also have a spinning ball at the top as well.

How do I
hang my spinner or windsock?
There are a number of ways to hang a windsock or spinner. One way to hang a
windsock or spinner is by using our
48" Pole and Bracket Set. This set includes a 48" pole with an eyelet end to
easy connect your windsock or spinner. The pole fits into the included bracket
which you would screw to a post or your home with the included screws.

48" Pole and Bracket Set
Another option to get your windsock or spinner up higher is to use one of our
telescopic poles, which can be found in the
Poles and
Hardware section of our eBay store. These poles range in length from 10' to
29' but collapse to just under 4' for easy travel and set up. Each pole has an
eyelet at the tip to easily attach your windsock or spinner.

10' Telescopic Pole
A third option for hanging spinners and windsocks is to purchase an eye bolt
screw from your local hardware or home improvement store. An eye bolt screw has
a screw on one end and an eyelet for hanging on the other. Simply screw the eye
bolt screw into a patio or deck overhang and hang your item.

Can
I wash and/or iron my windsock or spinner?
It's not a good idea to put
your windsock or spinner in a washing machine simply because they are made of
more than just fabric. Most spinners and windsocks also have metal, fiberglass
and/or plastic as parts of the total piece. Instead, take a damp soapy cloth and
wipe down the windsock or spinner to clean it.
There is no reason to use an iron on a spinner because they have a formed
shape and are not susceptible to wrinkles. However, windsocks can often come out
of the package with wrinkles. It is okay to use an iron on a windsock on the
lowest setting possible that will still remove the wrinkles. Make sure to avoid
contact with any plastic areas on the windsock.

What are the
bird windsocks made of? It looks like paper!
Our bird windsocks are made of a product called Tyvek. Tyvek is a spun bonded
olefin product that is light weight and very durable. It is an all weather
product that is unaffected by water and inert to most chemicals. It's also rip
resistant (meaning very difficult to rip, but not impossible). Far from
paper, this product is extremely durable and can handle the rain and snow! Tyvek
in its industrial form is used to wrap pre fabricated house components.

What kind of
winds can my windsock or spinner handle?
This is a tricky question.
Most spinners are safe in winds up to 25-30 MPH. Beyond that speed, the parts of
your spinner may fly off. It is a good idea to bring your spinners in if winds
are higher than 30 MPH for long periods of time on a given day.
Most streamer type windsocks
can be out in just about any amount of wind assuming what you've used to hang it
is durable enough to handle high winds.
The bird windsocks can handle
25-30 MPH winds on a consistent basis. It is a good idea to bring them in for
the day if the wind speeds are consistently higher than 30 MPH for long periods
of time on a given day.
At 25-30 MPH, you can expect
to see large tree branches in motion; whistling heard in telephone wires; and it
will be difficult to use an umbrella. Use your good judgment when determining if
it's time to bring your wind items in for the day. In most cases, if you
wouldn't feel comfortable being in the wind that's occuring, neither will your
windsock or spinner.

I have pigeon, seagull, woodpecker or other pesky bird problems. What type of
windsock might help?
Our best products to help with
pesky bird problems such as woodpeckers, flickers, pigeons or seagulls is our
Osprey Windsock or our
American Bald Eagle Windsock. Ospreys and eagles are predatory birds and
will attack almost any other bird smaller in size in nature. These windsocks are
designed to look just like the real bird and also emulate the flying patterns of
these birds by dipping, floating and beating their wings. Other birds assume
that these windsocks are real birds and stay away! Something to keep in mind,
however, is that these windsocks will keep ALL smaller birds away. If you have
birds that you enjoy such as hummingbirds or ducks, these windsocks will also
keep them away as well.

Our customers have also had luck using our
holographic windsocks. Our holographic windsocks come in a variety of colors
and are laser cut to sparkle in the wind. The streamers on these windsocks are
thin and really move around in the wind. Most birds do not like sparkly things
nor do they like things that appear to be attacking them. These windsocks
provide both of these windsocks.

How do I hang
the bird windsocks?
The bird windsocks to have some hanging specifications to be most effective.
First, the bird windsock must be hung at least 13' high in order for it to beat
its wings. We carry a number of telescopic fiberglass poles that are perfect for
hanging the bird windsocks in our
Poles and
Hardware section of our eBay store. You can, of course, use any other type
of pole that is at least 13' or taller as well as long as it is durable enough
to withstand the wind and the pulling of the windsock.
To attach the bird to the pole, we recommend using our
line rig. The line rig includes two swivels and 7' of heavy line appropriate
for our bird windsocks. You can shorten the line if need be.
To hang the bird as a windsock you would attach the swivel to the bird's beak
(it's likely there right out of the package anyway!), attach that swivel to the
line rig's swivel and then attach the other swivel at the far end of the line
rig to your pole.
To fly the bird as a kite, you would attach the swivel to the chest area of
the bird and attach your kite line to the swivel.

Can I glue the parts of the spinning ball on top of my spinner together?
Yes, you can glue the ends of
the plastic panels into the holder for extra durability. Be careful not to get
glue on any of the spinning mechanisms or the spinner will not spin any more.

What kind of winds can
my lawn ornament handle?
Most lawn ornaments are able
to withstand winds of 25-30 MPH on a consistent basis. If the winds in your area
are higher than that on a given day (consistently, not just a gust that goes
through and is gone in minutes) it's a good idea to bring your lawn ornament in
for the day.
At 25-30 MPH, you can expect to
see large tree branches in motion; whistling heard in telephone wires; and it
will be difficult to use an umbrella. Use your good judgment when determining if
it's time to bring your wind items in for the day. In most cases, if you
wouldn't feel comfortable being in the wind that's occurring, neither will your
lawn ornament.
Can I glue the
parts of my lawn ornaments together?
Yes you can. Tail feathers, wings and petals can be glued into their holders
while you're putting the lawn ornament together. Be careful not to glue the
spinning mechanism or any part that needs to rotate for the lawn ornament to
catch the wind. Gluing the tail spinners, wings and petals will help these parts
stay attached during high winds.
I don't see the style I was hoping for. Can you special order lawn ornaments in
different styles?
Yes, we are able to order many different styles of lawn ornaments though we may not
carry them all in stock. Often times, we are able to get a special order item in
within a week's time. If you don't see what you're looking for, send us an email

How tall are
the telescopic poles when fully collapsed?
All of our poles stand just under 4' when fully collapsed.
What
is the diameter of the telescopic poles?
Because the poles are telescopic, each piece of the pole fits inside the next
lower piece and the diameter varies all the way down the pole. In addition, the
diameters vary between light weight poles and heavy duty poles. Generally
speaking most of the shorter poles (16' and under) have a diameter of
approximately 1"-1 1/2" at the bottom. The longer poles (20' +) have a diameter
of 1 1/4" to almost 2". The diameter of the top of the poles is about 1/2"
on heavy duty poles and about 1/4" on the light weight poles.
What are
the telescopic poles used for?
The standard use for the
telescopic poles are to hang windsocks and spinners and feather banner flags. We
have no idea how these poles will perform in other uses and can't comment on any
other use other than wind item usage.
How do I set up my telescopic pole? Should I drive it into the ground?
No, you shouldn't drive the
pole into the ground. Instead, one of the best ways to set up your pole is to
bungie cord or zip tie it to an existing fence post, deck post or patio post.
Another good way to get it set up is to purchase a garden stake (like one you
would use to hold up a baby tree) from your local home improvement, drive the
garden stake into the ground and bungie or zip tie the fiberglass pole to it.
Can you get heavier or longer telescopic poles?
Yes, we can get the poles in
other lengths as well as different thicknesses. Just send us an email and let us
know what you're looking for and we'll do our best to find it for you. If we're
able to find the product for you, we'll set up a listing on eBay for you to
purchase it.
