Since its foundation in the early 1970s, Doctors Without Borders has adhered to the fundamental principle that all disaster victims, whether the disaster is natural or human in origin, have a right to professional assistance, given as quickly and efficiently as possible. National boundaries and political circumstances or sympathies must have no influence on who is to receive humanitarian help. By maintaining a high degree of independence, the organization has succeeded in living up to these ideals. Doctors Without Borders won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999.

Whatever price I start my books at remains in place for approximately a month. After that I invite my customers to "Make an offer." I also start dropping my prices. I run a small store and cannot afford to keep books listed indefinitely. Every month I drop the price, until it reaches a low of $1.00; at that point I remove the book from my inventory. (Occasionally I have a book I will remove sooner because I like it so much and I would rather give it away to a friend.)
