Hi, I'm Berta.
First we want to thank and bless you for your support of our mission.
My son Joseph Perez retired from a successful insurance currier from 3 different Fortune 500 companies during the last three decades. He was stationed in various Latin American countries and in Peru for 3 years. He loved the rich religious art and heritage, but hated the poverty, especially amongst children and old people. I do as well! How this all got started? After he retired, (and at my suggestion), he decided to knock on several convent doors one day with an introduction from an influential friend who I new in Cusco.
In Arequipa, a nun introduced him to an orphanage there. He met her inside the church gift shop, where he purchased a few things. Finally, we were referred to the Carmelite Convent in Ayacucho by the sisters from the same order from Cusco. They told us these sisters needed our help.
The idea was and is today, to bring back and sell on E Bay beautiful vintage ,antique and original religious items that the nuns in Peru had, (or could help us find), and for us to hand deliver too the nuns money each month. So as a result, the kind people that win our auctions help kids, old people and the religious who help them EVERY month. How can we to do this each month? Mostly with Gods help! My son insured airplanes in his past life, so he flies for free on the cargo airlines that leave for South America from Miami. I’m 93, so I’m at home when he is gone and I help out as much as I can, along with my relatives and church volunteers. I’m a widow. Joe has three boys, all grown up and his wife of 33 years who thinks he should go back to work in insurance as a consultant; but then she is very practical, and my son, like me, is not. We have more money than we really need each month from my retirement and investments. So we do this because it makes us feel good and keeps us busy. Joe answers all the E Mails, as I do not know computers, have poor eye sight and I am a little hard of hearing. We do not have a store or warehouse, and most listings are done in Peru and uploaded too EBay USA via the internet with a delayed listing day and time. Once the items arrive safely in Miami, they are then put on auction.
Well, I need to go now, but that gives you an idea of our work. God Bless, Berta
