We specialize in producing reproductions of antique and classic Hand Tools, as well as a foot powered Treadle Lathe, all with modern features of our own design. All of our tools are handmade, tested before sold in our own shop, in small quantities right here in the USA.
Here are some pictures of our Treadle Lathe. This picture is the front view of the Lathe. You can clearly see all the mechanical components of the machine. The Lathe is approximately 36 inches tall and 40 inches wide, the fly wheel is 24 inches in diameter and total weight is about 70 pounds.
This picture is a closeup of the head stock, tool rest and tail stock. Most of the Lathe is constructed of poplar with some parts such as the tool rest in hard maple. All the handles are made of bubinga.
This Picture shows the Lathe from the back. You can see the fly wheel, belt, idler wheel assembly, crank arm, pitman rod and the treadle. The Treadle is designed with a shelf behind the pivot point for weights. The weights act to bring the treadle to starting position. In the picture of the Lathe, I have used 18 pounds of lead weights. I designed the shelf to accommodate a concrete paving block for weight, which a buyer can purchase at any home center.
