STANLEY THE ALMOST BLIND CAT |
Stanley, his mom and siblings are feral cats that have been living in my garage for almost three years now. We trapped the mom and her babies, had everyone spayed/neutered, and provide them with food and shelter.
About a week ago, we trapped one of the males, who we call Stanley because he could barely open his eyes.

As it turns out, Stanley had a very bad herpes viral infection in both eyes. With antibiotics he would have eventually gone blind.

Thanks to almost 2 weeks of antibiotics, his eyes are now normal!
A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a breed that we have never had in our rescue before, but a few weeks ago, we received seven of them!

Everyone had pneumonia and despite hospitalization, we lost one, beautiful, sweet blemheim baby girl.
IN MEMORY OF PRINCESS

Another little boy went for an MRI, where it was discovered that he had an ear problem known as PSOM. He had a dual ear surgery called a myringotomy to releave pressure in both ears.
We now have vet bills in excess of $3000. All sales from the months of January-March will go towards these vet bills.

THE LIFE OF A RACING GREYHOUND |
After 6 years of racing on the tracks, this beautiful Greyhound was rescued, but that isn't the end of the story ... |
Years of racing had led to pieces of sand or other debris getting lodged in his paws, causing horrible, painful corns that need to be hulled every few months.
This is a common side effect in racing dogs. :-/
It took a trip to a special vet and an hour to get these corns removed. |

Other racing injuries are also common and when a dog can't race anymore, they are set to be euthanized, unless they can be rescued or placed.
This dog was very fortunate to have found a wonderful home, and his feet are healing nicely! The vet bandaged this and it should be fully healed in a few weeks. |

killed the mother while cutting down a tree.
These three baby squirrels are about 3 weeks old.
Their eyes are not even open yet. |
They are being fed by syringe, every 3 hours! |

There are 2 males and one female, who we named Alvin, Simone and Theodore! |

LITTLE LOST BEAN These auctions originally started to pay for Bean's $7000 vet bill. This is her story. |
The Little Lost Bean was born on October 29, 2005, along with seven other puppies. |
When she was about three months old, The Little Lost Bean came down with Parvo. We took her to the animal hospital where she stayed for one night. The next morning, the hospital called to say that Bean was going downhill fast. Nothing they had tried was working (Tamiflu, anti-biotics, anti-nausea drugs, etc) and Bean was vomiting repeatedly.
I went to visit Bean and see how she was doing and found her laying in her own vomit.
It was then that I decided to take Bean home and do whatever I had to do to try to save her life. |

I paid the $500 bill and headed back to get Bean. The vet actually left Bean's IV in because she was sure I would bring her back later to put her to sleep and the vet didn't want to be bothered to put in another IV!
At that time I asked about food for her and for two syringes. The vet looked at me in disbelief and said, "You can't feed her, she will just throw everything up!" And then she charged me an extra $4.00 for the two syringes!
When we got home and I started giving Bean food and liquid via syringe. I held her and stayed with her the entire time and she never vomited once as long as I was with her. I spent the next four days giving Bean food, liquid, and Parvaid every single hour, day and night.
Four days later, she was well, but the story does not end there . . . . |
On the fifth day home, I noticed something funny hanging from Bean's rear. About six inches of her intestine was hanging out!!!
I grabbed Bean and headed for the 24-hour emergency hospital in NJ. Bean spent 7 days at this hospital. She was diagnosed with a rectal prolapse, but they also found a bigger problem. Bean had an intussesception. This is when the small intestine telescopes in on itself. It requires an expensive surgery called "enteroplication" to fix it, but when all is said and done, the dog can live a normal, healthy, happy life.
The doctors talked to my husband and I. The vet bill was already up to $3500, and nobody would blame us if we elected to have Bean put to sleep, but we just could not do it. |
Bean had the surgery and is now at home recovering. She is skin and bones at the moment, but eating well, and throughout the entire ordeal, she has never, ever stopped wagging that little tail of hers! |

I now owe Oradell Animal Hospital close to $7,000, and that is what these auctions are for - to help pay for The Little Lost Bean's life saving treatments. |

JETT LI Rescued from a dumpster in Harlem |

I climbed into a dumpster to get this little pup that a woman had spotted while throwing out her garbage. He ended up having pneumonia and a broken right, front leg. |
I went to see him 12 months later at his new home, and as you can see he has turned into a handsome fellow! |

FEEDING TIME AT AN AMERICAN ESKIMO DOG RESCUE |

This picture is from a rescue on the West Coast. The head of that rescue was my mentor and we send extra funds to them for food and medical whenever we can. They currently have 24 American Eskimos and must turn many more away every single day. |

Well, I went to court for a speeding ticket...and guess what I came back with? A car happened to be blocking me in and before I could complain, I spotted something small, round, furry and crying by the wheel of my car.
A quick search revealed a dead mom and four dead siblings.
This one was barely alive.
This one became Clyde.
In between bottles, Clyde liked to suck people's fingers and purr.
His eyes did not open for another few weeks. |

Here is Clyde again, bigger, still loving to chew on fingers, but still a baby, and not ready to be released yet.
Yet another reason why raccoons make terrible house pets! He got through 2 childproof locks on a cabinet, simply because he was hungry.
Please remember to not keep wild animals as a pet. They should be taken to a facility trained in wild animal handling. You can ask your vet to recommend a place.

Paypaya was a little Papillon that was used as pit bull bait to train fighting dogs. We brought her into the emergency animal hospital dripping blood and all she did was lick the vet's hands... |

After an intensive hospital stay, Papaya recovered and was adopted by a loving family. |

My husband has even gotten into the act now, and he called me when he spotted this cat with a bad leg wound. |

Unfortunately this leg had to amputated, but Mercy seems to get around just fine on three legs! |

Carmella was actually dropped off at my house with her eye hanging out of its socket!

She had surgery to remove the eye (it was beyond repair), and has been successfully adopted. |

Snowball was given up by his owner after 14 years, because he did not get along with the new dog in the house. |

However, when the owner dropped off Snowball, she "forgot" to mention that the new dog had ripped a hole in Snowball's back.
I found it while grooming this much-neglected dog. |

| |
Of Course, it was Sunday, and no vet was open, so I cleaned the wound myself, as best I could.
Look at the toenail below - can you just imagine how painful it would be to walk on something like that? |

What a patient dog! |
