Shipping & Payment
We accept payments via PAYPAL ONLY. We provide USPS DELIVERY CONFIRMATION on each order; please be sure you provide us with your CORRECT email address so you can receive shipping notification! Payment is due within 72 hours of auction's end. NO EXCEPTIONS. *************************************** Our auctions all state that we ship USPS Media Mail; in point of fact, about 98% of our games are shipped USPS FIRST CLASS MAIL - meaning you'll get them in about 3-4 days! Even those shipped USPS Media Mail generally arrive in under a week. And ALL our games are shipped with DELIVERY CONFIRMATION, so you can know where your game is! For those that prefer USPS Priority Mail service, most of our auctions now post a cost based on your zip code; please keep in mind that USPS Priority Mail delivery is YOUR CHOICE, and NOT the default delivery charge! *************************************** Your item WILL ship within 1 business day of received payment (or the clearing of an eCheck if that was the payment method). *************************************** We ONLY ship within the USA, and we PROUDLY provide shipping to our military personnel to their APO/FPO addresses. We do NOT ship outside the USA - EVER - so don't even ask. *************************************** As you may be aware, eBay is starting to restrict shipping costs - in essence, telling sellers to subsidize the increasing costs of shipping by charging the customer higher prices - which eBay promptly takes a large cut from. It is therefore with deep regret that our multi-item shipping discount must, for now, be greatly reduced. If you intend to purchase 3 or more games, however, CONTACT US and we will make sure you receive specially discounted shipping. *************************************** We will leave you a Positive Feedback when your item is shipped, and ask the simple courtesy that you do the same for us when it arrives. Our goal is to provide a Full 5-Star Service on each of the Detailed Seller Ratings categories! If you have a challenge within a transaction, kindly contact us before you leave a neutral or negative feedback so we may attempt to solve your problem to your satisfaction.

FIVE    STARS    ON    DSRs ….. WHY?

As soon as we ship your game we will leave you a Positive Feedback; after all, you paid for your item in a timely manner, and have done your part in our transaction. When your game arrives you will have the opportunity to leave us a  (hopefully)  positive feedback, and to rate us with eBay’s new Detailed Seller Ratings (DSRs). To that end, I would like to offer some thoughts on the DSRs:

EBay introduced the Detailed Seller Ratings in late 2008 to address some of the shortcomings in the FeedBack system. The concept seems simple enough: the buyer simply assigns a value, one to five stars, on four of the primary aspects of the sale: Accuracy of Description, Communication, Speed of Shipping, and Shipping Cost. The five stars range from very bad (1 star) to very good (5 stars), with 4 stars described as accurate, good, reasonable, etc. To quote eBay (here: About Detailed Seller Ratings (DSR)) :

1.    How accurate was the item description?

  • Review the item title and description to see if they match the item you received.

2.    How satisfied were you with the seller's communication?

  • Recall if the seller addressed any questions or concerns that you had, and did so in a professional manner.
  • Consider only business days when evaluating the timeliness of the seller’s communication (sellers might not check email on weekends and holidays).

3.    How quickly did the seller ship the item?

  • Rate the seller on the time it took to mail the item, not the time it took you to receive the item.
  • Don’t hold sellers responsible for delays in mail services or for the time it takes for your payment to clear.

4.    How reasonable were the shipping and handling charges?

  • Remember that sellers may charge for the cost of the actual packaging materials, along with a reasonable handling fee to cover the seller’s time and direct costs associated with shipping.

The problem was that eBay never bothered to tell buyers that it considered 4 stars - which, again, it described as good and reasonable - as sub-standard and, in short, unacceptable; eBay considered 4.3 as the bare minimum permissible, with 4.7+ the targeted norm. When the DSR system first began numerous long-time eBay sellers were temporarily or permanently suspended because buyers were giving out a lot of 4 star ratings (which, after all, was reasonable or good); the buyers were never told the seller would be penalized for being 'good'!  PowerSellers came and went quickly as their bad DSR's mounted.

Now, starting in October 2009, eBay says it has reviewed the DSR system and is 'adjusting its policies to reflect the marketplace'. That means that instead of demanding that sellers have a near-Five-Star rating, eBay will instead be tracking the incidents of very poor performance, the 1 and 2 star ratings. IF eBay adheres to this plan it is a welcome and long-overdue change, as it should rightfully penalize eBay sellers that are not giving their customers proper service; until we see the real-world results, however, we will be guarded and withhold overall judgment.

For the record, Capt Dan's Games is certainly NOT one of those mega-conglomerate PowerSellers. We are a small computer repair company comprised of The Captain and four part-time I.T. students, that has been supplying PC games on eBay for over 10 years. We are all active gamers here, and it is no coincidence that as a result we are one of the very few PC  game sellers that actually offers tech support if you have challenges after you receive your game. We have a mantra around here: We Strive for Five; we want to do everything in our power to earn the full five stars in EVERY category, EVERY time.

We humbly hope you will seriously consider giving us the full Five Stars on all DSR categories so we can keep our presence here on eBay, serving both the serious and the casual PC gamer for many years to come. And as always if you have any challenge with your game, PLEASE contact us right away so that we can try to solve your issue to your satisfaction.

We welcome questions, comments, and suggestions on how we can improve our service to you, our customer.
