Answers to some questions I've frequently encountered from eBayers over the years:
Q: Do you combine shipping?
A: Always. Most smaller items (trading cards for instance), will ship at just the initial shipping charge. On standard sized magazines I can usually fit multiple issues in one USPS Flat-Rate Envelope. For larger items (LIFE, LOOK, Post) I'll always weigh out multiple items for you to charge an accurate weight.
Q: Do you charge a handling fee?
A: Not on Priority or Express Mail orders. I use USPS supplies on these orders and pass along the savings for you. For other rates, such as First Class or Media Mail, I will add a small handling fee to cover my supplies (usually only 50 cents to $1.00 though).
Q: How quickly do you ship?
A: All domestic packages ship via USPS mail. I use Priority Mail, First Class Mail (for up to 13 oz.) and Media Mail (magazines not eligible for Media). I ship 4-5 times per week, so your package will leave my hands within a couple of days of cleared payment. International buyers see shipping speed below.
Q: Do you ship internationally? Do you ship to my country?
A: As long as eBay takes your bid and the USPS allows me to ship there, then yes I do. I try to combine items as accurately as possible to, so if you want to buy a few things please request an invoice before sending payment. For a single item you should more often than not just be able to check out through eBay without requesting a fee.
Q: How quickly do you ship international packages?
A: Priority Mail International items ship the next day after payment is received and cleared (midnight deadline). First Class International packages have to be dropped at the Post Office in person. These packages ship once, sometimes twice, per week.
Q: How are items packaged for shipment?
A: Trading cards go inside a penny sleeve and then inside a top loader. Photos/Premiums/Paper Flats go inside a plastic hobby bag with backing board if possible. All magazines are shipped inside plastic hobby bags. Each of these items are then sandwiched between cardboard and then shipped flat in an envelope.
Q: Can you send me a scanned copy of an article I'm interested in?
A: I'm sorry but I cannot for several reasons. First, it may damage the magazine. Also, doing this becomes quite time consuming for me (I apologize, but it's true). Also, a lot of times this would be copyright infringement. Finally, if I send you a copy of the article, why would you bother buying it?
Q: C'mon, can't you send me a scan if I send you X.XX dollars?
A: I'm sorry, see the reasons above.
Q: I'd like my item shipped in a box, or in another specific manner. Can you ship this item in the specific manner I request?
A: I'm sorry, but I cannot, once again for several reasons. First, I specifically sell flat items to avoid creating bulky packages. You get more than a couple of these requests and it's a lot of work. Second, I've been selling on eBay since 2000 and I've yet to receive a complaint about a package being damaged. The way I ship, simply put, works.
