Autism Awareness

Autism now effects 1 in every 91 children born in America today. As a behavioralist with over 25 years of experience working with challenging behaviors and the mother of a 14-year-old son with Autism, I have experienced many of the same fears and frustrations as other parents.  There is no known cure for autism.  Join me as we search for the answers to someday make the word "autism" only a part of history.

I began my career as an psychiatric technician and went on to receive a B.A. in Communicative Disorders and Assistive Technology. I currently provide products and services in Behavior Management, Assistive Technology, Communication and Environmental Augmentation in the home, school as well as residential facilities.

What are Social Stories

Social Story Books, tools for teaching social skills to children with autism and related disabilities. Social stories provide an individual with accurate information about those situations he may find difficult or confusing. Each situation is described in detail and focus is given to key points: the important social cues, the events and reactions the individual might expect to occur in the situation, the actions and reactions that might be expected of them, and why. The goal of our stories; to increase the individual’s understanding, make them more comfortable, and suggest some appropriate responses for the situation in question.

Picture Exchange Communication Systems

Life presents many challenges for individuals with special needs. The biggest challenge is communication and understanding. It is our mission to help facilitate communication so that our clients are able to communicate their needs and better interact with the world around them. We carry a variety of different PECS’s book in several different formats to meet your individual’s needs.  From our "Toddler" series with 2 1/2 symbols to our full size PECS book with over 300-1.2 inch symbols, we have a book I am sure will meet your needs.

Often times there are a special item that is important to that one individual.
