Measuring a Radiator
99% of the radiators we sell are drop-in replacements that do not requrie any modifications so there is rarely a need to measure your current radiator. There are times, however, when it is neccessary to measure your current radiator in order to determine which radaitor is the correct one for a certain Year/Make/Model of a car. For instance, a 64 Buick Skylark came with 2 different size radiators. For this reason, we have provided this guide.
The process of measuring a radiator is really quite simple.
Measure the core only in order to determine the size of the radiator. Always measure the height with the tubes (the direction of the coolant flow). To determine the width, measure the core only. Do not include the side channels or mounting brackets.
To measure core thickness, use a small diameter wire and insert it through the core until the end is flush with the other side. Hold the wire flush to the core with your thumb and forefinger, remove the wire and measure it. Length of the wire from thumb and forefinger to end will equal the core thickness.
