*MAKE A DIFFERENCE*
Bring warmth to others who are in great NEED of your new & used
items such as:
- Dress clothes help people who don't have
proper attire to dress for job interviews.
- Slippers can be made for any age but for
senior citizens or persons with problems walking
or use an aid to walk (such as a cane) need
slippers that don't slide. There are
different adhesives you can buy to coat the sole
of the slippers. You also can sew simple
rubber drawer liners to the bottoms of the
slippers as well.
- I find that homemade items are usually
more durable, functional, and look so nice!! Used items such as a sweater
you knitted for your grandchild and she has grown out of it would be a welcome
gift to some little one needing that cute warm labor of love. Crochet & Loom
hats, mitts, and scarves are easy to do and work up fast.
What is needed? They also take
excellent condition used clothes both handmade and not. I have researched
many, many sites, opinions, & track records and have a list of the
top national charities that are reputable. They welcome any clothing
donation which they give the items to the needy (some also sell them
in thrift stores for a profit to help in other ways such as food.
They are in alphabetical order with the link to clothing donation
info for that charity.
Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Services,
Deseret Industries,
Goodwill, Red Cross,
Rescue
Mission,
Saint
Vincent de Paul,
Salvation
Army, &
United Way,
Vietnam
Veterans of America.
There is always needs in your
own area no matter where you are and the best places to donate in
your hometown are abuse shelters, churches, thrift stores (most have
donation programs), senior citizen centers, nursing homes and
hospitals. If you are not sure which charity will accept
clothing and what kind of clothing they need call or log on to
Donation Town
who will
find out which organizations in your community are in need of your
items. They will also schedule a fast and FREE pickup of your
donations and deliver them free of charge to a local charity. They
have all sorts of information about donations as well. Finally
I have a fellow knitting and crocheting friend who has a wonderful
site
Bev's Country Cottage Charity Links
filled with links, patterns, and information.
What sizes are needed?
ALL
sizes from baby to adults are desperately needed this year. These
charities have reported DOUBLE the number of items needed due to the
very high poverty & low income individuals and families.
I am a Trading
Assistant - I can sell your stuff on eBay!
