The Cuckoo Clock emerged during the first half of the 1700s from the Black Forest region of Germany. Farmers forced to endure harsh winters cooped up indoors for long periods of time learned the art of clock making to fill their time. Eventually different craftsmen came together. Some were skilled in the art of movement making, others in intricate wood carving.
