The Signature LaserDisc Collection was formed in December of 1994. This was Universal's answer to The Criterion Collection.
34 Unique Titles...
They introduced 34 Unique Deluxe LaserDisc Movie Titles from March of 1995 until May of 1999. Signature LaserDisc Movies are in the Original Aspect Ratio (OAR) as in the Theatrical Release and the Sound was remastered in either Dolby Digital AC-3, Dolby Surround Sound or Digital Sound. Each Signature LaserDiscrelease includes Special Features such as: Theatrical Trailers, Promotional Materials, Exclusive Documentaries, and much more. Some even include Running Commentary, Storyboards, Screen Tests, Scripts, Behind-the-scenes Footage and other special features. In addition, the Gatefold Jackets and Boxsets are constructed with heavy duty materials and have a classy finish - you know, classy as in DaDon's Newsletter.
Director Approved
All of the Signature LaserDisc titles were released with the Film Directors support and include the Director's Signature, hence the name The Signature Collection. Therefore, if you are collecting the best versions of Movies on LaserDisc the Signature Collection is a great place to start.
