Ebay Shipping Costs and Shipping Time

We have always tried to keep our shipping costs to only include the actual postage plus the cost of the envelope used.  We also try to best determine the actual weight of the items, envelopes etc. to determine the postage cost.  Over the years we have develop a fairly close relationship to the actual cost of shipping the cost shipping cost we charge.

Ebay is not a free service for sellers.  They charge a percentage of the item(s) sold as a fee.  That percentage has constantly grown over the years.   Ebay is now changing their fee structure to sellers.

Ebay is now including shipping cost in their percentage calculations

to determine the fee they charge the seller.

There new statement reads that the fee is calculated on the , Total amount of the sale [which] includes the cost of the item, shipping, and any other fees a seller may charge (for example engraving or gift wrapping), excluding any sales tax.  “What does this all mean?

It means that the cost to the seller is going up, again.  Let me give you an example.  In the old scenario, if an item sells for $10.00 and the shipping is $1.45, the total sale is $11.45.  In the past the fee Ebay charged would have been a percentage on the sale price of $10.00 or about $1.20.  The new fee is calculated on the total sale and thus, the new fee is $1.26.  That is a 5% increase in the seller’s cost structure.

What does this mean to you, our client?  It means that you will also see an increase in our pricing, just so we can maintain our previous profit margins.

Thus when you receive your shipment, you may see the stamp cost of $1.45, but a charge for shipping on the invoice of $1.56. (The math is: $1.45 for postage, $0.05 for the envelope and $0.06 for eBay.)

We would greatly appreciate that when you are providing us a rating on shipping cost that you please keep the Ebay fee Structure in mind.

For shipping time, we do attempt to ship within 1 business day.  Keep in mind that if your item is shipped first class mail, it may take up to 4-5 days for you to get your item.  We can only control how fast we ship your item, not the speed or lack of speed of the post office.

Thank you for your understanding.

Why is there a difference between the postage amount on my package and the postage charge I paid?

Our shipping costs include postage plus mailing materials (envelopes, padded envelopes, boxes, etc) and other shipping supplies and handling charges.  As such the postage on your item may not match the postage price you paid.

What if my shipment does not arrive?

Unfortunately we cannot control the US post office who my loss or misdirectsthe mail  We do offer other services (UPS, Priority, FedEx) which are more expensive by which we can track and for which we are responsible if the shipment is lost.
