How is my order handled?
Every item is cut-to-size, and will be either saw cut (bar, pipe, tube, structurals), sheared (sheet and plate), plasma/flame cut (thick plates), or cut on our precision aluminum plate saw (aluminum plates). Using these methods ensures that the edges on your material will be clean, to the correct measurement, and within the specified tolerances. Since every item is cut-to-size and there is no order minimum, there is no need to buy extra material, saving you money on both material and shipping costs.
Do we ship outside the U.S.A?
We currently ship to only the 48 continental states.
Alaska and Hawaii we are working on implementing.
Do you combine purchases and shipping?
Yes, any order that is received with multiple items is combined.
Do you custom cut material?
YES, we are your cut to size specialists. Custom cutting charges will be declared upon request of what is needed. If you are need a custom cut please let us know before or during your check-out process. We are dedicated to getting all of our orders out the door ASAP and if you wait till after check-out chances are that the item is probably already packaged and ready to go out the same day you purchased it.
When will my order ship and arrive?
Orders for in stock materials made before 9 AM are usually shipped that day. Orders are processed M-F 8am-4:30pm CST, and you will be notified via email when your package has shipped.

Yes, we offer UPS 3-Day select, UPS Next Air and UPS Next Day Air Saturday delivery. Just send us a message and let us know what kind of shipping you desire and we will let you know the costs of the service.
How long does it take to process my order?
Please allow 1-3 business days for your order(s) to be processed and shipped.
I received my material and it was incorrect what do I do?

Is there a minimum order?
NO. We offer the ability to order the size you need when you need it. We offer any amount from inches to truckloads.
Can Discount Steel perform value added metal processing?
Discount Steel is a mini-service center providing a wide range of metal processing options. Although not available online, just send us an email, send us a eBay message, or give us call to see what we can do for you.
Our Laser Cutting facility is now up and running! We can now cut to order an even wider array of materials. If you have a DXF or DWG file, great, just send us it (along with material thickness and how many you will need) and we will get you a quote as soon as possible.
What qualifies for free shipping?
We will ship any industrial supplies with a value greater then $50.00 to the continental United States. As for material we are offering free shipping on all aluminum products that can be shipped UPS ground. The largest piece that will be able to leave here on free shipping is an 96" long structural piece. As for sheets the largest sheet that can be shipped UPS ground is a 48" x 60". As long as your piece is under these requirements your shipping will be FREE!!
