Fabric rationing during WWII led to creative & feminine designs incorporating puffed sleeves and slightly shorter skirts. Babydoll pumps & swing dresses were quite the rage! The end of WWII ushered in the high drama and full skirts of Dior's New Look.

Crinolines & bobby socks & pin-up girls, oh my! The 50's were all about the bombshell in all her contrasting forms. Halters, swingy skirts, tight sweaters, pencil skirts, and wiggle dresses all made their mark.

The Space Age brought 'new & improved' synthetics to fashion, along with psychedelic patterns and cheeky go-go designs from British shores! Sweet full-skirted dresses were still to be found, but so were daringly short hemlines & the beginnings of the free-love hippie movement!

Never subtle, the 70's carried forward the mod & hippie trends, with emphasis on new 'maxi' lengths and a dash of Victoriana. Disco dresses & 40's revival abounded, as did platform shoes, bold graphic prints, wrap dresses, and anything sparkly!

The 'Me' decade was a study in contradictions - preppy wrap skirts & novelty prints, 'power' suits, & edgy New Wave and punk looks had their day. 50's and 60's styles both enjoyed revivals (with bigger shoulders and shorter skirts, of course!). More was definitely more!
