This English Royal Doulton Character Jug is The Gondolier D6592 (yellow hat; blue and white t-shirt; maroon and white pole). Designed by David B. Biggs, was originally issued 1964 - 1969. Size: 4"H (small). The shallow, long craft the gondolier pilots through Venetian canals must be painted all black, according to ancient law. When not ferrying or serenading lovers on moonlight rides, the gondolier moors his gondola to a brightly striped pole by the waterside. I originally found this gem at an outdoor flea market near the artsy community of Montmarte in Paris, France back in 1996!

This Beautiful shirt design was originally slated to be part of a Casino uniform for the ALADDIN Hotel / Resort in FABULOUS Las Vegas, Nevada. The Hotel management thought, at the last moment, that these shirts were too distracting and "busy", and decided to halt production. These fancy shirts were never distributed and most were, in turn, destroyed at the factory, hence this item's EXTREME RARITY!!!

This STUNNING Emerald Jade Necklace came from the Estate of my Grandmother in Hawaii. Reasons for the closing of Ming's still are unclear since the manager preferred not to discuss it, in keeping with Moon's publicity-shy policy since the beginning. Once, when opening a store in New York, Moon declined a magazine interview. At one time, Ming's had shops in San Francisco, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Ft. Lauderdale, New York and Miami, and two in Atlanta. There also were four in Waikiki, and shops at Ala Moana Center, downtown and in Hilo. But Ming's began closing the mainland shops in the 1960s through the 1980s. Today these RARE pieces are sought after and very desirable!

The swingin' '60s queen of soulful rock 'n' roll, Janis Joplin may have died in 1970 at age 27, but her legacy lives on. You probably know Janis for her searing vocal performances on "Piece of My Heart" and "Me and Bobby McGee." But she was more than that: She was hip, cool, a powerful woman in a time when women didn't wield much power. She's an icon who has influenced three decades worth of female performers. And here she's an excellent action figure with her trademark unique Hippie look. This great find was mint on the original card, and was never opened!

This Gorgeous Ring came from my Grandmother's Estate! MING'S Inc. made and sold classic Hawaiian motif and Oriental jewelry for 60 years, and finally closed its doors in 1999. Ming's fame with jewelry collectors in Hawaii and on the mainland is due to the late artist Wook Moon, who designed many pieces. Classic designs made in the 1940s included earrings, pins and necklaces in the shape of anthuriums, birds of paradise, hibiscus, orchids and pikake. Many of these ornaments were made of delicately carved ivory and silver. Before Ming's opened in Hawaii, much of the quality jewelry available was sold out of catalogs. But Moon hired local people to make jewelry, trained them and helped them open their own businesses later. Moon is even credited with creating many of the tools he used for the carvings. This Savvy Retro piece included the original scarlett velvet Ming's jewelry box.

This example of Roseville Pottery is a response to growing public desire for Arts & Crafts wares that were in vogue. The mottled matte glazes work in harmony with the typical fruit and garland motifs. Roseville only produced Florentine from 1924 - 1928 making it quite rare and difficult to procure. I paid just one shiny quarter for this vase at a church bazaar!

An instrument like this must make you want to play lap steel guitar! What an incredibly gorgeous instrument. Sunburst on maple guitar-shaped body, gumwood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, nickel hardware, individual Kluson tuners with translucent amber buttons, one black and one brown Bakelite octagonal knobs, and, of course the famous Charlie Christian pickup. This was a beautifully preserved instrument. The pickup is very hot, with a fat tone and bigness not usually found in steels. My father and I were almost fooled into thinking that this was not a Genuine GIBSON because of the older style logo and the low tag sale price of only $40.00 - it's a good thing we trusted our instincts!

This CD has the same tracks as an LP that was released in the late 70's/early 80's. It is an amusing compilation of the Best of the Muppets from back when The Muppet Show aired on television. Silly songs are interspersed with comedy sketches and commentary from Statler and Waldorf A.K.A. The Two Old Guys In The Balcony and Kermit fending off Miss Piggy, this CD is a classic! Hopefully you can dig one up on here on eBay or find it in an out of print music store.

Another one of my personal Royal Doulton Character Jugs - Scaramouche - old version D6561 (blue - black, brown and green colorway). Designed by Max Henk, issued 1962 - 1967. Size: 3.25"H (small). In the 17th-Century comedy, written by Edward Ravensroft, Scaramouche appears as a boastful, foolish character, dressed in the old Spanish style. This strange yet captivating ceramic was hiding amongst a shelf full of common souvenir coffee mugs at a local thrift store! I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my ONE DOLLAR investment was worth significantly more!!!
