The body size chart may vary with each individual and are to be used as a general guide for a better fit.  All measurements are in inches.

  • For better accuracy, have someone else take your measurements
  • Hold the tape measure straight and tight
  • Carefully check the description of the item, make sure it is available in your size
  • If your measurement is in between sizes, order the next size larger

1.  Chest Measurement / Jacket Size
Measure around chest, just below arm pits.  Add one or two inches to your chest measurement depending on how fitted you would like your jacket. This will be your jacket size. For example a person with a 40" chest most often will wear a size 42 tuxedo jacket.

Some designers such as Christian Dior tend to have a more athletic cut and you may want to add more than two inches. This is also true with many of the Vintage tuxedos that I sell in my eBay store.

Jacket Length
Jacket lengths range from Short, Regular, Long, and Extra Long. The following list shows height ranges that usually coincide with the appropriate length jacket. This is a general range chart to be used as a guide, however some people have longer arms and torsos, and others have longer legs. These may cause variations in the necessary jacket length. Also, be aware that some jacket lengths may vary depending on style and designer.

Short 5'0 - 5'6
Regular 5'7 - 5'11
Long 6'0 - 6'4
Extra Long 6'5 - 6'8

2. Neck Size

Take a shirt that fits you well, lay collar flat and measure from center of collar button to far end of collar button hole.  The measurement in inches is your neck size.
You may prefer to measure your actual neck. Wrap the tape measure around your neck and be sure to place one finger between your neck and the tape measure.

3. Sleeve Length

Hold your arm straight out to your side with your elbow bent. Measure from center of neck (back) to your wrist. This measurement in inches will be your sleeve length.
Adult sleeve lengths typically come in sizes 30/31, 32/33, 34/35, 36/37, & 38/39.

4. Waist Size

Wrap a tape measure over a shirt and around your waist at the height you usually wear your slacks.  Tuxedo pants should be worn at your natural waist (navel) and not around your hips. Keep one finger between tape and body. This measurement in inches will be your waist size.
Many of the tuxedo pants offered in my eBay store offer an adjustable waist. Men's sizes 27-29", 30-32", 33-35", 36-38", 39-41", 42-44", 45-47", 48-50", 51-53", 54-56", 57-59", and 60-62".

5.  Inseam

Take a pair of pants that fit you well and that you would wear at your natural waist (not around your hips). Lay them with side seams together. Fold one leg back and measure flat leg from crotch inseam to bottom of pant.

You may also measure your outseam by measuring a pair of dress pants that fit you well from the top of the waist band to the bottom of the hem.

This is a general size chart that I have pulled from the internet to be used as a guide when selecting a boy's size tuxedo. I recommend that you take careful measurements and use your best judgement as to what size will work for your child.  Tuxedo Jackets often vary slightly depending on how they are cut. They do not all follow these measurements to the exact specifications that I have given.
I would suggest when trying to decide between two sizes to go with the larger.
