Greetings from Pacific Junction, IA. (Pop 530) 'PJ' is a small farm community in Southwest Iowa - located 20 miles from Omaha, NE, along the Missouri River.
Unfortunately, the County does not have an Animal Shelter/Sanctuary, or Personnel to deal with the homeless pet population, which has hit epidemic proportions in the last several years.
One day I noticed a pretty little white kitty with gold & orange spots (Daisy) wandering around the neighborhood, looking homeless & hungry. I started placing food & water outdoors for her. She was timid & shy at first, but eventually grew comfortable enough to let me pet her. In no time at all she became a valued member of the family!
As luck would have it, I was put in touch with a non-profit organization whose goal is to raise the funds needed to start up a Shelter in the County. They offer Spay/Neuter Certificates for $10! So I purchased 8; started catching homeless kitties; and getting them fixed!
It is my firm belief that until we can stop the cycle of unwanted breeding, the problem will never get better. Equally important is the need to educate those around us on the importance of Responsible Pet Ownership! So I started hanging posters, recycling empty inkjet cartridges, selling Heirloom Tomatoes, or anything else I could get my hands on, to raise the money needed to purchase more certificates! =^&^=
Then, one day I learned how to buy & sell on eBay! =^&^=
Profits generated through store sales completely cover all costs associated with rescuing & caring for the many homeless kitties who find their way to my door! Everything from Cat Food, Cat Litter, Flea Treatments, Vaccinations, Medicines, Educational Flyers, Pamphlets, Winter Feeding Stations & Veterinary Care - all are funded by kind & caring buyers who choose to shop in my store.
I've been very fortunate to meet lots of fellow Pet Lovers through my eBay sales. Many started out as customers, and have become very dear friends. They share their pet pictures & stories, send me ideas & suggestions, or bestow kind & encouraging words just when I need it most! =^&^=
