How much does shipping cost?
If you are purchasing one or more items from a single listing you can use the eBay Shipping Calculator located towards the end of each listing to determine the exact cost. If you are buying from two or more listings then calculating shipping is a little more complicated. Send me an email with a list of items (eBay auction numbers) and quantities of each item along with your ZIP code and I’ll send a shipping quote to you. What is combined shipping?
When you purchase items from 2 or more listings eBay calculates the shipping assuming that items from each listing will ship in separate packages. Very often all items can be packed in one box and shipped for much less. The cost saving is passed along to the buyer. See my Store Policy page for a detailed explanation of how shipping is calculated. Sometimes if the weight or size of the items exceed postal limits or the items are not compatible (for example shipping a 50 LB lead anchor with a delicate egg) the items must be shipped in separate packages. |

Typical delivery times are
- 3 – 5 days for First Class
- 2 – 3 days for Priority Mail
- 7 – 10 days for Parcel Post
However it may take much longer. Parcel Post packages can take over 6 weeks for delivery. Priority Mail and Parcel Post packages are shipped with Delivery Confirmation. If you purchased postal insurance you can file a claim with the Post Office after 21 days. |
Do I need to purchase postal insurance?
On most listings postal insurance is optional. I keep a postmarked receipt as proof of mailing. You should purchase the insurance if you’ve had problems with lost mail in the past or the dollar amount of the order would be painful to lose. Image that you have a hole in your pocket and you’ve lost that amount on the street. If that would make you very upset then you should purchase the insurance. There seems to be two schools of thought on insurance. One is that the Post Office will treat the package more carefully if it is insured. The other is that it announces to potential thieves that something valuable is inside. |
I checked the Delivery Confirmation number on the USPS website and it says the Post Office was notified of the shipping but that the package may not have been delivered to the Post Office.
Unfortunately the Delivery Confirmation number does not always work like a tracking number. I print and pay for shipping labels online. When I delivery the packages to my local Post Office they don’t scan the bar code labels into their system. I do have them postmark the receipt as proof of shipping and will be happy to send you a scan upon your request. As the package goes thru their system they may or may not scan the bar coded address label. The only time they scan it for sure is when they deliver it to the destination. |
Do you ship internationally?
On most items YES. Unfortunately shipping to other countries can be expensive. Request a shipping quote BEFORE you buy. Let me know which items and quantities you want and which country to ship to. Payment for international order must be with Paypal. |
Can you ship by UPS, FedEx or other carriers?
Yes. But past experience shows that USPS is usually cheaper. |
Can you ship on my UPS or FedEx account?
Yes if your account is setup to allow that. I still charge a handling fee to cover packing material costs. |
