I cut and polished my first opal over 40 years ago. Now I have become a full time opal nut who obtains opal rough and rubs directly from Australia, cuts and polishes them, then sets some of those stones into opal jewelry. These spectacular opals, with their brilliant colors which dance throughout the stone just speak to me and I love finding those veins of precious opal in the rough rock and polishing them to perfection. As a result I now have hundreds of precious opals of all sizes and color which I can share with other opal collectors, jewelers, or individuals who like my jewelry designs. Opals, because of the many factors which determine their value are probably the most difficult of all gemstones to appraise and determine a fair retail price. I try to provide my opals at a below wholesale price based on a reasonable evaluation of the base color of the stone, the colors in the play of color, the color saturation, the color brightness, pattern, and directionality.
