Today's tip comes from Nick Mastroni, his book is Master Strokes, 401 Proven Lessons for Mastering Every Golf Shot.
Eyes Over the Ball
There are a number of theories on why older golfers don't putt as well as in their younger days. One is that their vision has changed and they don't 'see the line' as well. Here's a tip that can help: Practice setting up to putt so your eyes are directly over the ball. You can do this by setting up with a ruler dangling downward from your eyes. Does the end of the ruler point directly to the ball?
Most golfers will have their eyes set inside the line of the putt; a minority have their eyes over a line outside the ball.
In either case, you don't have a 'right angle' between your eyes, the ball, and the target line. Work on getting your eyes over the ball. With practice, you'll gain confidence in getting the ball started on target
