Gosinta my Store Safely (Buying Tips)

Be informed before buying on Ebay.  Buy from a reputable Seller.

We want your buying experience on Ebay to be a positive and memorable one.  Our business is based on you – the buyer.  Remember, it truly is all about you at Gosinta.

  1. Learn who the seller is before purchasing.

Check the seller's feedback reputation. Click on the number next to the seller's user ID. You'll see their feedback score, the % of positive feedbacks (think 'report card') along with comments from other eBayers who have had transactions with this seller. The higher the number, the more transactions the seller has completed successfully. A reputable seller will have a  99% - 100% positive feedback score.

  1. Learn more about the seller.

Check to see if the seller has an 'About Me' page (not all sellers do). If there is one, there will be a blue and red 'me' next to their user ID. Click on the 'me' to learn even more about the seller.  It the seller has a store, visit the store pages to learn even more about the seller.

  1. Carefully review the details of the listing.

Be sure you understand how to pay for the item, how it will be shipped, whether or not you need to pay insurance, if there is a refund/return policy and any other terms & conditions the seller states. If you have a question, use the 'Ask Seller A Question' link.

  1. Clarify the terms of the listing BEFORE you bid.

By placing a bid you are entering into a legally binding contract to purchase the item if you are the highest bidder. This also means you are agreeing to all the terms in the listing. If you have a question about the item or any of the terms, contact the seller before you place your bid, using the 'Ask Seller A Question' link.

  1. Be sure to check your spam folder if you don't receive a response when you ask the seller a question.

A reputable seller with good customer service will respond to your question in a relatively short period of time.

  1. Determine the item's value.

You can see what similar items have sold for on eBay by checking the 'Completed Listings.' This will tell you whether the item sold and if it did, what other people paid for it. To find the 'Completed Listings', perform a search for the item, then check the 'Completed Listings' box on the left hand column of the page. Scroll down and click 'Show Items.' The list shows was listed in the past 2 weeks. Sold items have the dollar amount in green. If the dollar amount in the listing is red, that means the item did not sell.

     7. Never complete the transaction off of eBay!

  1. Insure the item.
  2. Always pay using PayPal.

Paypal provides an additional record of the transaction for your safety.  Your personal information is safe with PayPal.  If you should encounter an issue that is that cannot be resolved with the seller, you have recourse through PayPal.

In addition, you'll want to be sure your online transactions are safe and secure by:

  • Making sure your computer's virus protection is up-to-date.
  • Using complex passwords that contain both letters and numbers.
  • Downloading eBay's Toolbar - it's free. Go to the eBay home page, scroll almost to the bottom. There’s a link to information about the toolbar.
  • Checking your 'My Messages' section of your 'My eBay' if you receive a suspicious email in through your private. If you receive an email that you are not sure of, go to www.ebay.com. Click on the 'My eBay' tab at the top right of the page. Scroll to the 'My Messages' section - it's in the left hand column about half way down. If the message in your email box is a real one, the same message will be in your 'My Messages' inbox.
