Ancient Artifacts (our advice to all eBay users):
Whether you buy historical art or antiquities from us or other eBay sellers, we strongly recommend that you show all your purchases to your nearest reputable museum or expert testing laboratory for authentication and peace of mind. Unfortunately the ancient, art and collectible market is cursed with a high proportion of fakes. Fakes often look better than real antiquities to the inexperienced eye - they are often intact, invariably unrestored and their colors are more vivid. Our buyers can count on a 100% money back guarantee if a reputable museum or artifact testing laboratory renders a written report that judges their purchase to be non-ancient or non-authentic. Seek the same re-assurance from all those who sell to you.
Source of Artifacts:
The sources of the antique artifacts we make available for sale on eBay are as follows:
(i) Private Collections, particularly one that is over 45 years in the making, and to a lesser extent rural auction houses in old New England.
(ii) De-accessioned objects from now-defunct museums.
We are constantly turning over quality items that we have acquired during the last 50 years of collecting. Many of these items were purchased in the good old days, before the prices of many pieces escalated considerably (as they will doubtless continue to do). This allows us to turn over much of our high-end stock at exceptionally competitive prices.
We do not engage in purchases from dubious sources, nor do we sell recently excavated ancient material. Experience shows that well-provenanced artifacts from old family or museum collections accrue significantly in value and are the soundest way to avoid fakes. Our aim is to promote our hobby - for which we feel very passionate about, in a safe, investment conscious, and legitimate fashion.
