During the run of its very successful presidential figurine collection, the Marx toy company made several prototype figures of candidates in the event that they actually won the presidency. These figures include Adlai Stevenson, Barry Goldwater, and Hubert Humphrey. Although these figures were never sold to the general public, many (especially Humphrey) have found their way into the collector marketplace. This series of figurines picks up where the Marx prototypes left off by offering every major party nominee of the last 68 years. Designed to look and feel just like the Marx figures, they are made of resin plastic, about 2 3/4 inches tall, with the last name of the candidate on the front of the base in raised letters (the backs are blank). They are hand cast, hand painted, and individually and sequentially numbered.
Available figures include Thomas Dewey, Adlai Stevenson (painted recast of the Marx prototype), Barry Goldwater (recast), George McGovern, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, Robert Dole, Al Gore, John Kerry, John McCain (machine-cast), and Mitt Romney.
