...the USPS charges shipping rates based not only on the weight of the package, but the distance it has to travel. Shipping items 1 pound or less via USPS Priority Mail is the same rate no matter where you live in the US. But as soon as you go over 1 pound, the rates start to increase. So, since we're in Indiana, shipping to the West Coast can get pretty steep.
We want to let you know that we aren't making any money on shipping. We do insure every package over $10.00, which also adds to the cost, but the rates are determined by the USPS -- we have no control over them. When the item has a long way to travel, sometimes shipping via UPS Ground is a better option.
