Foundation History

  • [In 1976] -, Bill Kimball bought a dilapidated garage on the corner of Heber Avenue and Main Street to create a nonprofit community art center – Kimball Art Center (KAC).  Bill Kimball was quoted when he donated the building in The Park Record, November 1976 as saying “I hope the Art Center will allow them (Summit County residents) to fulfill themselves and enrich their lives beyond the necessity to make a living.”  To fulfill his intention and promote the visual arts, Kimball Art Center’s mission is to be a nonprofit center for the arts, committed to engaging individuals of all ages in diverse and inspiring experiences through education, exhibitions and events.
