QUESTIONS ON GOLF BALLS
(top of
page)
THERE ARE SO MANY GOLF BALLS ON THE MARKET TODAY, WHAT
TYPE OF BALL DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR ME?
To get a through understanding of the various types of
golf balls on the market and the one that is best suited
for your game click here.
http://www.knetgolf.com/knetgolf/default.asp?view=about§ion=hc&r=0&isle=0
ARE THESE
BALLS NEW IN SLEEVES?
Knetgolf specializes in the premium play-it-again golf
ball business. We will sell over 5,000,000 premium
play-it-again golf balls this year to over 100,000
customers in 10 countries. Knetgolf has been involved in
this industry for the past 10 years. We have been online
for 5 years. We are well known in the golf ball industry
for our quality as we have a very strict grading system.
Only the top 5% of the golf balls that enter our system
ever get sold on eBay. All of the balls come in mesh
bags of 1 dozen.
WHAT ARE X OUT
GOLF BALLS?
An X-Out golf ball is the result of a mistake in the
manufacturing process. X-Outs are name-brand golf balls
on which that brand has been stamped out, usually with a
row of X's, because of imperfections in the ball. Those
imperfections are often cosmetic in nature, and usually
so small as not to be noticeable. The balls usually play
the same as their counterparts, or at least close enough
that most recreational players could never tell the
difference. Let's use Titleist for the sake of
illustration. If during the manufacturing process some
tiny little error occurs and the resulting balls are not
up to Titleist standards, the company will not package
those balls and try to pass them off as Titleist golf
balls. But Titleist doesn't want to toss them out with
the garbage either, because that would be a complete
loss of money. So instead, Titleist stamps a row of X's
across the "Titleist" name on the ball, packages such
balls in generic packaging and puts a very cheap price
on them. Titleist still makes money, and many golfers
get practice balls - or play balls - on the cheap.
WHAT DO THE NUMBERS ON A GOLF BALL MEAN?
Every golf ball has numbers on it. How many numbers and
which numbers vary from brand to brand, but they all
have at least one number. That one number is most likely
to be a 1, 2, 3 or 4 (although it can also be anything
from a zero to a 9). What do these numbers mean? The
numbers mean nothing, really. These single-digit numbers
are simply there for identification purposes. If the
members of a foursome are all playing a Titleist NXT
ball, for example, one might play a ball with the number
"1," another a "2," the third a "3," and the fourth a
"4." This will allow the members to keep track of which
ball belongs to each player. These numbers usually
appear just below the branding of the ball's name. All
the balls from the same sleeve will have the same ID
number. A golf ball might also have a three-digit number
on it, usually something in the 300s or 400s. If you
notice such a number on a ball, this number is letting
you know how many dimples are on the ball.
WHAT IS COMPRESSION AND HOW DOES IT AFFECT PLAYABILITY?
Another number that might appear on golf balls is the
ball's compression rating. Until solid core balls drove
the wound ball almost completely out of the market -
beginning in the late 90s - compression rating was a big
deal to golfers. A compression rating of 70 or 80 for a
wound ball was regarded as an indicator that ball was a
"ladies ball." A compression rating of 110 meant you had
to swing very hard to make that ball work right (the
he-man ball). We know now that compression relates much
more to feel than to distance. Solid, soft-core balls
are a huge segment of the golf ball market now, and the
compressions today can be way down in the 30s or 40s
(ranging up to 100 or so). When these low-compression
balls first started appearing on the market,
manufacturers felt there was still a stigma attached to
low compression - i.e., that a low-compression ball
would be viewed as a "ladies ball." And so numbers
representing compression were dropped from most golf
balls. You'll still l find them on some brands, however,
and they are almost certain - these days - to be two
digits.
So, to recap: A
single-digit number is there for identification; a
double-digit number most likely represents compression;
a triple-digit number most likely represents the number
of dimples.
ARE THESE BALLS
WATERLOGGED?
Knetgolf?s balls are not waterlogged as they are mainly
recovered from over 200 courses in the South West
Dessert. Our Grade B balls are also in good condition
but will be slightly discolored compared the Mint balls.
WHY SHOULD I PURCHASE RECYCLED BALLS AND WILL THEY
AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OF MY GAME?
Knetgolf understands some customers have never purchase
recycled golf balls are sometimes hesitant to so at
first. Knetgolf?s recycled golf play like new with the
only difference being the packaging and the amount you
will save.
DO YOU
REPAINT THE GOLF BALLS?
Our Mint and Grade B balls are not repainted nor touched
up. After the washing process they are graded by quality
like eggs and inspected as a jeweler would, brand
sorted, type sorted, compression sorted, bagged, picked,
packed and shipped. The fact that our mint balls are
not discolored illustrates that they have not been
sitting in water but rather are collected from the AZ
dessert.
However, we do sell REFINISHED balls. These are clearly
marked on our website in a different REFINISHED
category. In fact in this industry if a company were to
repaint a ball, they must legally write on the ball
"refinished by XYZ INC"
WHAT DOES MINT, GRADE A, GRADE B & AAA+ MEAN?
GUARANTEE OF
QUALITY
Knetgolf.com Mint golf balls are the best
available and are the top choice for many golfers
regardless of skill level. The Mint balls have both the
appearance and feel of a ball that has been used from 1 to 4 holes. Many of our customers
refer to our Mint golf balls in our Feedback section as
One Hit Wonders. These are the top 5% of all balls we
recycle. No X outs are included in this mix. Corporate
or sport team logos will be in the mix unless otherwise
noted.
Knetgolf.com Grade A recycled golf balls are
clean, playable and have no markings that will affect
the trajectory of the ball. There may be very minor user
markings as these balls are similar to ones you have
played a few holes with. These balls are slightly
cosmetically challenged but have no cuts or creases. No
X outs are included in this mix. Corporate or sport team
logos will be in the mix unless otherwise noted.
Knetgolf.com Grade B recycled golf balls are
cosmetically challenged but are suitable for casual play
and the recreational golfer. These balls are great for
practice or the ever-difficult long shot over the water
hazards. X-Out's will be included and balls will show
wear and use. There will not be any cuts and minor
scuffing is kept to a minimum. A cut ball is considered
unplayable. If Knetgolf deems that the scuff or scratch
is too large or if it tears into the cover of the ball,
it will not qualify for any of our grades. Cart paths,
trees, and other abrasive surfaces may be evident. All
of Knetgolf's golf balls are playable.
Knetgolf.com AAA+ recycled golf balls are the
best value buy for the most sought after balls in golf
today. The AAA+ balls are 100% playable and great for
practice or the ever-difficult long shot over the water
hazards. The recycled value pack balls may be
cosmetically challenged in that they have moderate
surface blemishes and minor to moderate ink marks. None
of the surface marks or slight blemishes should affect
the trajectory, distance or flight Path of the ball. A
cut ball is considered unplayable. If Knetgolf deems
that the scuff or scratch is too large or if it tears
into the cover of the ball, it will not qualify for any
of our grades. Cart paths, trees, and other small
markings on the surface may be evident. There are no X
Out or Practice balls in this mix, however, corporate or
sport team logos will be in the mix unless otherwise
noted. Knetgolf stands 100% behind this product and all
