FUZZIBUNZ CLOTH DIAPERS
Mothers of today have so many product choices... one has to ask, what's the "necessary" baby items, what are the "best" baby items, what are the most effective products, and so on. With all the enviromental issues, health issues, and lifestyle issues present today, it can get tough to think about a decision like cloth diaper or disposible diapers. For most, you just start using the items your mother used, or the peditrician recommends, or you best friend says you "have to have!". Well, here is one item that is hands down a no brainer... Fuzzibunz brand diapers!
For many different reasons, the Fuzzibunz cloth diapers are one of the best decisions you could make for your baby, the enviroment, AND for yourself. As many new moms (and some grandmoms and "old hat" mothers) found, using the Fuzzibunz diapers were easy to use, provided a tremendeous financial savings (see below for the cost anaylsis), provide more comfort and dryness to your baby, helped save landfills from getting overflowed with disposible diapers, and are a true one fit size.
The Fuzzibunz One Fit diaper has sturdy snaps along the diaper's front that allows for multiple sizing and adjustment through the baby's growth. As many know, baby's growth spurts seem to happen overnight. That little peanut seems to grow to a 20 lb bundle of joy in the blink of an eye. No worries with the One Fit diaper... just snap the diaper's top on the next wider snap setting. No worries about leaks from the leg area. The leg opening has elastic leg casings that with a simple adjustment can be tightened or loosened. The leg casing design is made with an elastic and button. Easy to adjust and super easy to replace, should the elastic wear out. Did I mention... an extra set of elastic bands are included with the diaper purchase?
How does this diaper keep your little one more dry than the competitor's diapers? Glad you asked! Their pocket designed diaper has a thick, cotton liner that is placed between the fleece lining (super soft fabric for next to your little's one most delicate area) and the waterproof fabric exterior. Included with your diaper purchase is a shorter and a longer, micro terry cotton insert. The shorter one is to be used for newborns, while the longer one is to be used for an older infant. The micro terry, cotton liner wicks away the wetness, leaving your little one super dry. The wicking system was designed for assuring your little one doesn't get a diaper rash. Matter of fact, it was the inventor and mother, Tereson Dupuy's reason for creating this diaper. Her son had constant diaper rashes with disposible diapers that lead her to invent a diaper that allevated her son's discomfort. Hence, the Fuzzibunz diaper was created!
Wonder how the diapers stand up to washing and your little one's active lifestyle? The high tech fibers used to create the Fuzzibunz diaper is unsurpassed in their quality, even after many washings. The snap style waist adjustments are by far the most durable in the industry. Some competitor brands use velcro for adjusting. While this seems a likely answer to providing the most custom fit, one must consider the typical wear found with velcro use. Ever notice how velcro tends to "roll" with use? Using in an area like the waist, the velcro tends to not lay flat for too long. I mention this because (after a few wearings), the velcro can make pulls in your baby's clothing and/or start to be abrasive by rubbing on your baby's skin. Not only is the velcro causing pulls in the your little one's clothing, it may catch on things like blankets, toys, etc. A more minor issue with velcro is the unsightliness that happens when things collect in the velcro strip. Doesn't sound like too much comfort and convenience, does it?
I've touched on the comfort and durability of these diapers, so now I will discuss the cleansiness and enviromental factors. Fuzzibunz are easy to sanitize and clean. Just soak in cold water, launder in hot water with a soap like Rockin' Green, then follow up with a cold rinse is suggested. Tumble dry on low heat or hanging to dry (preferred). Diaper rash creams, fabric softeners, and pure soaps are not recommended and will void the diaper's warranty. The reason... they effect the fabric's fibers ability to perform as needed. I know, you ask "what about the pooh?" Shake solids (and excess urine) into the toilet. As many aren't aware, shaking solids into the toilet is recommended regardless of the type of diaper one uses. After changing your baby, just place the soiled diaper and pocket liner in a diaper pail until it's time to launder. Now for the best part! You've saved the enviroment from getting a diaper (and its contents) dumped into a landfill! Are you thinking... how much does this one diaper effect...again, glad you asked! See below:
How much can using Fuzzibunz really effect my budget? And help the enviroment? Well, first let's look at the average amount of diapers used during a baby's infancy until potty training time:
According to the internet, such as a search for diapers on wikipedia, the average spending for disposible diapers is from $1,500-$2,000 per child. The newborn baby uses from 8-15 diapers per day and tapers off to an average of 5-6 diapers per day for a toddler. A coupon savvy customer may be able to get the disposible diapers for the lower end of the range, but keep in mind the trade off of time and expense you will need to clip coupons, research store sales, and run to the store during the sale. The Fuzzibunz purchase price is one you shop for once... with no further shopping around for lowest pricing needed. So where's the savings? A Fuzzibunz diaper purchase of 24 cloth diapers costs less than $600. Even factoring in 2 loads of diaper washings in a week, one can clearly see the savings found with cloth diapers. Now here's some statistics on the environment: disposible diapers are claimed to be the third largest consumer good to fill up our landfills. Millions of pounds of disposible diapers are tossed each year (in the US alone). How much does 1 baby use? Well, consider that 1 case of disposible diapers weighs (on average) 12 lbs alone. It's not unreasonable to conceive that at the rate of 2 cases per month, one baby could create 300 lbs of waste. That is not considering the enviromental impact in the manufacturing of the diaper, its packaging, marketing materials, and axillary necessities like wipes, trash bags, etc.
