Blue
Blockers in Kuwait
We received a nice letter and picture from Captain
Kevin Bouren in Kuwait with an incredible picture of 50
soldiers wearing Blue Blockers. In his e-mail to us along
with the picture he wrote: "Just wanted to let you
know we're here in Kuwait preparing to depart for Iraq
shortly. Here's a picture taken a couple days ago of some
of my guys with their sunglasses on. THEY LOVE THE BLUE
BLOCKERS! You've made Believers out of these guys!"
Blue
Blockers in Afghanistan
Our troops in Afghanistan have Blue Blocker sunglasses
In fact, in addition to the Army troops photographed
here, there are several thousand Marines who are being
issued Blue Blockers as well. The pictures shown here
have had the nametags blurred at the request of the Army
for security purposes. Blur Blockers are the most popular
single sunglass brand worn by our fighting men and women
overseas. Click on the pictures to see more detail and
read some of the interesting captions.
UVA and UVB
-
UVA: UVA is ultraviolet radiation with wavelengths from 320-400
nanometers. It passes through the Earth's ozone layer and can cause early
aging of the skin.
-
UVB: UVB is ultraviolet radiation with wavelengths of 280-320
nanometers. The ozone layer absorbs most of the sun's UVB, but even a small
amount can do substantial damage. UVB causes skin cancer and may contribute
to cataracts.
-
Did you know?
- UV rays can
cause cataracts. Doctors
recommend wear sunglasses that offer an absorption
of 99-100% of the UV spectrum.
- Many
"cheap" sunglasses that are sold use a
spray-on UV coating which has a short shelf life
and potentially be wiped off.
- These Sunglasses are
made of higher quality materials and all offer the
maximum UV protection (100%) which is built into
the lens rather than sprayed on.
