Cleaning LaserDiscs & LD Jackets
We are asked almost daily the best way to clean and protect LaserDiscs. We have tried all of the products out there, and strongly recommend using Novus Products. We believe so strongly in this product that we became a distributor and have been selling Novus products ever since to the LaserDisc Community.
Many LaserDiscs are purchased used these days, and that means fingerprints, dust and scratches. You should not use any products that contain ammonia, such as Windex, because it can dry out acrylic, causing it to yellow and become brittle over time. Novus #1 harmlessly removes those nasty fingerprints, grease and dust and polishes your LaserDiscs to a protective non-greasy anti-static finish!
Novus #1 can be applied using our special cleaning rags which are included in our Exclusive LaserDisc Cleaning and Protection packages.{} Please remember that it is recommended that you spray directly onto the rag and wipe from the center to the edge for best results.
Some LaserDiscs may be more heavily scratched or scuffed, and Novus #2 is a great product to use under these circumstances. Once the scratches are removed, apply Novus #1 in order to obtain that non-greasy anti-static finish!
Some LD's may have sticky edges? (They feel sticky to the touch and stick to the edges of the inner sleeve?)...Novus #2 works wonders on this problem...simply apply some Novus #2 to a cleaning cloth and apply to edge of LD, and in no time your LD will look and feel like new again!
We also highly recommend using Novus #1 on your LD Jackets as well. It safely removes finger prints and dirt. Remember to apply the Novus directly on the rag and not the jacket itself, as it may puddle and soak in, ruining you cherished LD Jacket.
Now that you have spent your time cleaning and protecting your LaserDisc Collection, they should be stored in a quality Poly-Lined Inner Paper Sleeve to protect them from further harm from those cheap and flimsy factory poly rounded bottom sleeves. Lastly, you should protect your beautiful LaserDisc Jacket Art by putting them in a 6 mil. Poly Sleeve to protect them from further handling and shelf wear. |
