Custom Dyeing Service

I custom dye fabric, yarn, ribbon, scarves, etc. I specialize in silk, but I dye any natural fabric, including cotton, linen, hemp, etc., and any natural fiber yarn, including cotton, wool, mohair, etc. I can use natural dyes if requested, but I generally use Procion Dyes.

For quality control purposes, I only dye fabrics and yarns that I supply myself.  Or, alternately, the customer could have the items shipped to me from my supplier. Although you will occasionally see overdyed pre-owned garments for sale on Magicalrealist Gallery, the results of overdyeing pre-owned garments are less predictable than the results of dyeing fabrics from my reliable supplier, so I do not custom dye pre-owned garments.

Here on my eBay Store, Magicalrealist Gallery, I list my most popular dyeables, including silk habotai fabric, linen fabric, and silk / wool blend yarn.  I can get many more types of dyeable fabrics and yarns, different guages of ribbon, etc.  I can get many different types of silk and cotton fabric, and a few more exotic fabrics too.  I can get lots of different sizes and shapes of silk scarves. I specialize in dyeing special effects. The special effects available for custom dyeing fabric and scarves are: classic hand dye, crackle technique, salt technique, shibori, and gradation.  For yarn, ribbon, and cord, I dye color variations by a dip-dye method. I do not do tie-dye or solid color dyeing.

On color matching: perfect color matches are not guaranteed, especially if I am working from an internet photo.  However, I have successfully matched color schemes on a wide variety of different pics emailed to me by customers, including landscape photos (green trees and tan grass yielded a classic hunter color scheme), photos of paintings (a large number of different colors), photos of ore (raw turquoise has touches of black and silver in it in addition to multiple shades of blue), and even a graphic from the Sims. I have also successfully created fabrics for customers just from a description in words (such as "pink and grey fairy dress"). Or, if you just specify "next season's fashion colors in the purple and green categories", or "next year's hottest fashion colors", I can do that, too.

Magicalrealist Gallery is a one woman operation, but I have sold to couture houses, crafts makers, and theatrical companies.  No job is too big, but very large orders may take longer than my standard turn-around time.
