Q: Are your charms all Sterling Silver?
A: Items described as sterling silver are Sterling Silver.Unless they are over 7.78 grams they won't usually be hallmarked. Why ?Because they're exempt & not required by law to be hallmarked. Before thinking it's rubbish, please visit an assay office website http://www.theassayoffice.co.uk/images/pdfs/Hallmark%20guidance%20Notes%20FINAL.pdf
Q: What are the weights limits that are exempt from hallmarking?
A: The only items which are exempt are those which are under the legal weight threshold, 1 gram for gold, 0.5 grams for platinum and 7.78 grams for silver. There are other exemptions but this can be very complex. For more information about English hallmarks you can start with the Birmingham assay office www.theassayoffice.co.uk
