Tops are easy to choose a size that’s right for you. Look at the measurements listed for the size closest to your actual bust measurements. Then add an appropriate amount of extra inches so the Top will fit comfortably. You are not going to want a garment that will be skin tight in fit. Allow anywhere from 4 – 8 (or more) inches extra above your body measurement so you can get it on with ease, move in it and feel comfortable.
Look at the style of the piece, as well, as you make your decision. Is it straight throughout, does it A-Line or Flare out just where you might need it? How will the length look on you? Dresses generally, can follow many of the same sizing rules as Tops, just take a look at the overall length to determine if that’s right for you.
Jackets and Layering pieces such as Vests should be a little larger than the Top you plan on wearing it with. Generally, you will find that we size our Jackets and such a minimum of 2 – 4 inches larger than a Top of the same size, so you don’t have to order a size larger.
As for Bottoms (Pants and Skirts), the most important measurement to consider is the hip measurement. The same rules apply here as they did for Tops, allow extra inches in the garment above your own body measurements. Almost all of our Bottoms are made with a full elastic waist, and the measurements are noted for the Relaxed (elastic not stretched at all) and Extended (elastic fully stretched) so you can be comfortable wherever you fit within those two measurements. Lengths are important on Skirts and as the inseam measurement on Pants. We are happy to discuss alterations, if necessary to accommodate your needs.
