Welcome to my eBay store! I have been collecting stuff for over 40 years. I need to simplify. The floor of my library is about to collapse. I am selling most of my books, especially cookbooks. I add new items almost everyday. Please check back often or let me know what you are looking for.
Shipping and Handling Cost:
Please remember I have other costs besides postage. I add only $1.00 to the postage calculated by eBay for handling costs. Sometimes a mistake is made. If my S&H is higher than my cost, I issue a partial refund. If you think you are entitled to a partial refund for shipping costs and have not received one, please request one.
Contiguous United States: I have posted the least expensive method in each ad. If you want a different shipping method, please request a quote.
Alaska, Hawaii, and Insular Areas: The same shipping methods available to the contiguous United States are available to these places. However, the USPS has told me anything less than priority mail could take five weeks or more when shipping to this area. If you need your item sooner, please ask for a quote to upgrade shipping.
The Rest of the World:The least expensive method can be calculated on my eBay ad. This is usually First Class International or Priority mail. I add US$2.00 for handling to packages sent outside the United States and its insular areas.
Combined Shipping and Handling: I do combine shipping. If you buy more than one item, I will send you an invoice with the combined shipping and handling costs. The combined shipping and handling charges are the cost for postage plus $1.00.
Packaging: I try to wrap items like I would want to receive them and I try to get them there in one piece. I try to balance this with cutting costs to you, the buyer. I honor special requests. If you want something wrapped differently than described below, let me know.
Books and magazines:
Books and magazines are shipped in an appropriately sized envelope reinforced by packing tape. If the order is large enough, I use an appropriately-sized corrugated cardboard box.
Posters:
I use an appropriately-sized shipping tube, The tube ends are sealed with a cap and/or tape.
Clothing, Stuffed Animals:
I use an envelope reinforced by packing tape to ship these, if they fit. Otherwise I use a box. I do not use any additional shipping materials.
China:
I get a box which fits the piece. I wrap it in bubble wrap and fill the box with packing material.
Stamps:
Stamps are put in a glassine envelope which is attached to a piece of cardboard and placed in an envelope. I write do not bend on the envelope.
Other items:
I use bubble wrap, as necessary. I use an envelope reinforced with packing tape or an appropriately-sized box.
Insurance:
As of September 2009, eBay does not allow me to offer you an insurance option. It must be required for the item or not available. For further information, see eBays selling policy under what you're not allowed to charge.
Insurance is not available for items under $10.00
Insurance is required and included in handling charges for items over $10.00
A brief rant about the United States Postal Service:
Click here if you want to skip the rant.
Once I hand an item over to the USPS, I have no control over it. I make every effort to address items to assist the USPS to get the packages to you. It is working! In almost 10 years of business, I have only had one item lost by the United States Postal Service. These have been very good odds. I have never found it necessary to make an insurance claim on an item,
The delivery industry is the only industry which makes their customer pay for their mistakes. If an item is delivered to you lost or broken, I do not think you are responsible for bearing the cost of this. However, I do not think I should be held responsible for something I had no control over, either. Do you? Nor should either of us pay insurance to make the USPS responsible for doing their job.
The post office needs to take responsibility for the items it loses or breaks. Especially in a world where more and more is being ordered online and then shipped. When I goof, I do whatever I can to fix it. No one pays insurance for me to do that. It is just good business practice. The post office should be doing the same thing for its customers, us.
I try to ship your purchase within 1 business day of your payment clearing.
I ship Monday through Friday, unless the post office is closed.
I ship most Saturdays.
I can't ship on Sundays, Holidays or any time the post office is closed.
I do everything I can to get your package to you quickly. I am not responsible for the post office's delivery times. If you need the item quickly, I suggest upgrading your shipping method. Please ask for a quote.
I send an email to the buyer after the item is shipped.
If you have not received your item in a timely manner, please contact me and I will initiate a post office search.
Some additional info:
Magazines can not be shipped by media mail, according to the post office. They will be shipped First Class or Priority Mail.
I take pride in my customer service. If you are not happy then I am not happy! If you have a problem with anything on this page, during a transaction or anywhere else in my store, please let me know! My goal is 5-star service in all 4 categories.
