Hello & Welcome to my Furry Family Page:
As you can see we have quite a zoo, and we love them dearly. You can see lots of pictures of the whole gang, plus an online photo album of all the Afghan Hound rescues we have helped since 2000, when I came to Houston & got involved. Many are no longer with us - gone but never forgotten. http://community.webshots.com/user/meowsicat?vhost=community
In the first picture are Tasha, our White German Shepherd, Thor, our newest rescue (9/2007) a tan domino Afghan Hound, Harley, a blue brindle Afghan Hound, also another new rescue (8/2007) and Cory, our black masked red Afghan Hound. Tasha came to us from a local animal shelter in Houston where I spent time as a volunteer. Thor was a family surrender to Afghan Hound rescue in Harlingen when his human owner passed away, Harley was an owner suurender in the Dallas area and Cory is my first Afghan Hound, rescued/adopted from the Women's Humane Society in Bensalem,PA. Cory is the reason I got involved in Afghan Hound rescue and is a total Mommy's boy!
It is with heavy heart and many tears I must add that Cory has gone on to Rainbow Bridge as of July 27, 2008. Rest in Peace my beloved furby boy. Baron "Cory" Corrigan October 30, 1994 - July 27, 2008.
In the next 2 photos are Remus, a large brown tiger kitty, Lucy, a small grey tiger kitty & Mitzi, a calico Manx. Remus was adopted at a local cat rescue in 2003, and he thinks he is a dog,not a cat. Lucy & Mitzi found their way to my house as kittens, Mitzi in 2002, Lucy in 2004.
The last photo is of my original Thor, a blue domino Afghan Hound. Surrendered by a woman in the Houston area, Thor was originally supposed to be a foster in my home, but he quickly earned a place in our hearts and home. Tragically, Thor went to the Rainbow Bridge 3/26/2007 at the young age of 8 years old. Less than a week previous, Thor was found to be in the advanced stages of metastatic cancer and he deteriorated so quickly that we barely had time to say good bye. He loved to sing with us and was a great ambassador for the Afghan Hound breed. Thor stood on his hind legs and gave "hugs" to everyone he met. Everyone who met him, loved him. We miss him terribly and have created this page as a way to continue sharing him with everyone.
On a bright note: Harley & the new Thor, were chosen as cover models for the 2009 18 Month Chloe Dao S.N.A.P. Calendar. Calendars are available for $30 and the funds raised support the Spay Neuter Assistance Program, which provides low cost, affordable spay/neuter assistance to people on a fixed or limited budget. You can purchase a calendar by going to www.snapus.org and clicking on the Chloe Dao calendar link. It's a great cause that needs all of your support.
