We suggest the following children's guitar sizes:
30" 4-6 years (1/4 size) 19" scale length
34" 7-8 years (1/2 size) 20 ¾" scale length
36" 9-10 years (3/4 size) 23 ¼" scale length
39" 11-12 years (classical size) 25 ½" scale length
41" 13 years and up (full size) 25 ½" scale length
The scale length is defined as the distance from the nut to the bridge.
These are just suggestions or guidelines and choosing the correct guitar depends a lot on the child's actual size. For example, if your child is large for their age, you may want to move up one size or if they are right at the end of one bracket, move up as your child will grow. There are many other factors that also can come into play in picking the right guitar for your child. |
