The other day I was shopping for something on eBay and I noticed that some sites are "going green." And it occurred to me that we aren't "going" green, we've been there all along! To let you know how we (and in turn, YOU) are helping out the planet just a little bit, here are a few of the ways we conserve resources here at Mom&Diana.
1. Our products are "rescued" from yard sales and auctions. That means they aren't going into landfills. I can count on one hand the number of "new" things we have listed!
2. Other than tape (I'm still working on that), our packing materials are almost all post-consumer recycled. Our bubbles, newspaper, boxes and foam get at least one more use before they get to you, and hopefully you can find another use for them!
3. Our homes are our offices, and we have always recycled. Cans, bottles, paper... we recycle.
4. Our light bulbs are the funky green swirly ones! It's a small change that makes a big difference.
5. The computers we use are run by wind power (via the power company), along with the rest of the house.
6. No one likes to go to sales and auctions alone, so we carpool as much as we can.
It had never occurred to me before to list all these things (or the countless other small choices we make). We do them because they are the right thing to do, not as a sales gimmick. If you want to know more, please email us and ask- I could go on for days about this!
A little note, just as a reminder. We pack your treasures after you've bought them, and send you the correct invoice. If you don't wait and you pay right away, we don't send a refund for that, so please wait for an invoice! It won't be MORE than the estimated amount, and you just might save some money!
And as always, if you are looking for something specific, just ask! It might be in the waiting-to-be-listed heap, or we might bump into it at a sale sometime.
Please note: We love our store, and we love our shoppers, but we also love a little free time. If you ask a question or purchase an item on the weekend, beginning Friday night, we might not be able to send you an invoice until Monday. Please don't panic- we're just out enjoying our families and the rare good weather. Come Monday, all our attention is focused on you! (barring, of course, natural disasters, family emergencies, and other Acts of God!)
The post office has decided to change it's rates every May, and that messes our store up a little, especially the international rates. PLEASE ask if you want to know the shipping costs! We try to answer emails the same day, except on weekends. Thanks for your patience! |
