As a young girl, one of my favorite things to do was to go into my Grandma Max's attic. The attic was spooky and stuffy, but it was filled of wonderful treasures from her past. She had everything up there! One corner held a box with old papers, autograph books, and Valentine's Day cards. The next box would have dolls and board games from my mother's childhood. It seemed she had everything in that dusty attic.
I believe those days in the attic gave me the passion and appreciation for all things vintage. I've collected everything from old Christmas cards to photos to furniture. I love it all.
My grandma is 92 years old now. No one has been in that attic for years. But I guarantee that the next time I walk up those narrow stairs and open that creaky, heavy door, I will feel like Howard Carter opening King Tut's tomb.
