FYI We are leery of Paypal for a number of reasons. Security issues being the foremost concern.
For the first few years we used them, PayPal seemed like a great service to facilitate credit card payments by acting as a sort of broker, insulating their members from fraud...in theory that is.
However, we find the dramatic increase in spoof emails quite disconcerting. Furthermore, it's extremely difficult to understand how ebay/PayPal can allow this to go on without taking agressive legal action to curtail the rampant fraud.
As a conscientious business owner, I am mortified by the thought that a new online consumer may find their way to our ebay store, register an ebay/PayPal accts just to purchase one of our ebay items, and then some time later... fall victim to a spoof PayPal email "verify your account information", "your PayPal account will be suspended if you do not sign in and update your info", etc. We literally get dozens of these phishing emails every week. The very possibility that PayPal may expose our valued customers to the treacherous pitfalls of email spam-fraud is an absolutely despicable notion. This is why we feel so strongly that PayPal undermines the integrity of legitimate transactions.
We have a number of credit cards & "real" bank accounts. These legitimate institutions have NEVER exposed us to a withering barrage of scam email like Paypal has.
We are a real business with a CitiBank merchant account for processing credit card payments (95% of our website customers pay with CC).
Frankly, we'd prefer not to have our business associated with PayPal, introduce new customers to them, or expose ourselves to the financial liability of accepting payments via their service.
In any case we are genuinely committed to customer service and secure transactions through a legitimate banking institution...or PayPal (whatever you feel most comfortable with).
