RECOVERY is a choice, no matter where you find it.  It is available to anyone who suffers from the disease of addiction that desires to stop using, regardless of your drug of choice, religion, lack of religion, sexual identity, race, creed, or color.  As long as one can admit to their innermost selves that they have a disease that is manageable by following 12 specific directions, RECOVERY is possible.  At times, many of us feel that recovering is the rockiest path we have ever walked.  If I recall correctly, my worst days clean are always better than my best days using.  Working the 12 Steps can be a simple process as long as one maintains an attitude of gratitude and practices these three spiritual principles.

We believe that we must also carry the following message not only to the addict or alcoholic who stills suffers, but to all Americans.

Prevalance of Hepatitis C: CDC estimates that nearly 4 million Americans are infected with hepatitis C, many of whom are not aware of their infection. It is estimated that there are between 2 and 5 million HCV chronic carriers.

Incidence extrapolations for USA for Hepatitis C: 150,000 per year, 12,500 per month, 2,884 per week, 410 per day, 17 per hour, 0 per minute, 0 per second.

Deaths from Hepatitis C: Chronic liver disease due to hepatitis C causes between 8,000 and 10,000 deaths and leads to about 1,000 liver transplants each year in the United States. Over the next two decades, the number of annual deaths from hepatitis C is expected to triple if there continues to be no effective treatment. Chronic liver disease is the tenth leading cause of death among adults in the United States. 

Costs for Hepatitis C: The estimated cost for treating hepatitis C is $600 million yearly, including medical and work loss.

These are grim statistics that could potentially effect everyone shopping on this page.  The average age of the person with Hepatitis C in America is 51.  That is only because most of them did not know they had it.  Hepatitis C can live in your liver for 20 to 30 years without you experiencing any symptoms.  There are treatments available that work for a lot of people.  If you have Hepatitis C then you already know everything and probably a whole lot more then you are reading here.  If you don't know if you have Hepatitis C, get tested.  It is a simple blood test that your doctor can do, and remember it's confidential.
